i had a couple questions about these watches. ive tried searching, but didnt find any real answers.
first of all, ive heard that the 007j was made in japan and the 007 was not. any truth to this? is the j really "better"? secondly, why cant i find any of either for sale in the us? and why do the ones coming from overseas (singapore and such) come with boxes?
thanks alot!

I'm no expert, but I can answer a couple of your questions in broad strokes. The SKX007J is made in Japan, while the SKX007K is made in Korea (?) I believe. Other than some markings on the face of the watch its hard to tell the two apart. It seems to me that there is some confusion about the manufacture of the J models because the cases all seem to come from Korea and there's no way to tell if the movement is made in Japan or Korea. Essentially its a bit like the products you see where all of the rough parts are made out of the USA and then shipped into the US for assembly so they can be marked with the more profitable (and higher surcharge that comes from it) "Made in the USA" label. Only these are "Made in Japan." The J models, for my money are only an added expense since they are essentially identical to the K models.

As for why they're not for sale in the US, its because the 007 model is made for the Asian market exclusively. The US market has another model (SKX749?) which has square inicies (sp) instead of the round ones on the 007. The square indicies are made for the US/North American market and as far as I know are the only ones strictly authorized for sale in North America.

I have no idea about the boxes. Oh, and check out the forum- there are a lot of people there who know a LOT about the seiko brand. Hope I helped a bit!

Sincerely,
Anthony
