it was nearly impossible to find a kershaw avalanche without the black blade, and if you did they were pretty expensive, and all of a sudden im seeing stonewashed s30v avalanches for under 50 online

whats going on ?

i ordered two for myself, they are AWESOME

I think they are a limited run. I saw those too, and it was hard not to order one or two, but I've got more knives then I can even carry in rotation as it is.

Per Thomas they are a build out about 500 of them. That is also the end of the Avalanches, they are not in the 2010 catalog. Lots of Kershaws are going away to make room for all of the new models.;)

Boas Both big and small.
Bumps Both Speed and Spec.
Storms Both big and small.
JYD 1
Centofante Watch for the build out on these model 1615 polished not black.
Vapors Both big and small.
Tyrades All of the blades are used up so the run is over 2000 or so total.
+ a few more.
All gone for 2010.

hmm i didnt know, might need to get a few more of the avalanches and some storms

I would like to buy one too. My only concern is the same potential torsion bar on/off switch weakness in the now also discontinued Kershaw Cyclones. Is this an issue I should be concerned about?

Anyway, it's a killer price for a nice S30V steel blade! :)

Since the Cyclone was the only one that had the switch you should be in good shape.
Don't forget to Dealer's section.

I just want to make sure I understand completely clearly before I buy one.

Aside from the blade not being coated black, is there ANY difference between the regular all black Kershaw Avalanche and the new stonewash version?

Are the new stonewash Avalanches just being made from left over stock or are they seconds?

Thomas, if you'd be willing to set us straight regarding these issue I'd be much obliged!

Thank You.

It's the last of the blades. They are stonewashed. It is the exact same knife in every way except for the stonewashed blade.
They are not seconds.

Hope that helps.

Thanx for all your input 2brothers you helped to convince me to buy one before they are all gone! (I missed out on the Tyrade so I promised myself not to miss this opportunity) I bought one for $52 including Priority shipping. It seems like an absolute steal to me, I mean a high quality Kershaw S30V blade with a G10 handle for less than $50... How are they able to sell them for so little money and why only sell them for 1/3 MSRP? Isn't this the best deal around now for $50 or less? I can't think of any other knife in this price range that is of higher quality or a better deal. A steal I tell you, a steal!
