I'm sure you all have seen them floating around once in a while. The Sebs that have Tom Mayo's trademark holes drilled into the presentation side of the Ti.

What's the deal with that? I guess I don't understand that a busy maker has time to essentially "pimp" other knives.
What do you think that does to the value of a Sebenza?
How do you know if it really was Mr. Mayo?

I ask because there is a Large Regular that is growing on me, but I don't want to buy/trade for an essentially worthless Seb.

Any thoughts appreciated.

If it's growing on you, then it's not essentially worthless. If you later decide you don't like it you can probably find someone else who likes it. The important part, the actual blade, is still in great shape I assume, so why worry. :)

Tom hasn't done any custom Sebs in quite some time. When they come up for sale in the forums, they usually come at a premium, fyi. And they're worth it, imho.

"How would you be able to tell if it is an authentic Mayo? "
I'd say you have to have faith in the seller.
Back "then" you could get TM to do the treatment or get it from a reputable dealer/collector.
