Hello. I was wondering what difference there is between the#1 and #14 in Randall's Catalog. Yes, they do have obvious visual differences, but how do they perform differently? How do they feel?
Thanks
The 14 has a 7/8 in wide full yang they call CDT cut down tang, it extends to the end of the micarta handle. I have the finger grooved handle that is slim and well rounded. My friends handle was more squere and boxy, if you dont like it send it back and have them alter it or I recommend the border single finger handle.
Hey Ken: great site with nice pix. Love that early Maddog.

They were very helpful and infomative. I wanted the real differences between the #5, #1 or #14. They respond to email quickly and on the phone answered all of my questions in detail.
I handled both the #14 and the #1. I went to the NY show intent on a #14 but it kind of turned me off. I was looking for a quick fighter though. Pick up the #1 and the #14 feels heavy and a bit clumsy. If you like the feel of a hunk O steel in your hand its great and probably the better of the two as an all around field knife if you will be chopping but since I already owned a busse the #14 seemed redondent.
