What's the difference between blade and knife forums.

This may sound like a stupid question to longstanding forumites, however I've only been registered on bf for a couple of months and did not know kf existed until today.

Ooooohhhh boy, I see a nasty one starting up here! heehee

They are run by different people, with different moderators and have different (but overlapping) memberships. The software is similar but the versions are different.

They are owned by different people. Both are good forums, and both are a lot of fun. Bladeforums is definitely the busier of the two sites, and always has new discussions, especially if you use a lot of the different forums. I prefer Bladeforums by a longshot, but that isn't a detraction from Knifeforums. I've just been a BFC member for a long time. You're going to get a lot of trashtalk in this thread, but realize that most people are members of both, and really the content is pretty identical.

Laying all jokes aside, I'm a member of both as well because I'm a Knife Knut and I like knife talk as well as a little fun at times too! Both are excellent but seperate forums run by different individuals.

I too must agree though, that Mike Turber has gone far with BladeForums.com and is my number one choice, followed by KnifeForums.com.

P.S. Most of the members of each forum site are good members as well!

One difference is this forum works on my computer. Knifeforums is so slow I can't read it.
Knifeforums seems more military. Seems to lean more towards defense/fighting which I believe is bad for knives.

I belong to both forums and have no intention of trashtalking either one. They're both good, but there are loons on both too. That statement is obviously redundant because, as I said, I frequent both

. The real difference is that BFF has much, much more activity and inevitably therefore there's more to see and say here. Exactly why this forum is so busy is a tribute to the folks who own and run it. That's not to criticise anyone "over there". Every once in a while someone on one side or the other stirs up a Hornets Nest or angers a Mad Dog, but all in all I think both are fine forums with good folks and peaceful coexistence gives a little needed variety. BTW, there are other forums too scattered here and there. I think BFF is. by far, the biggest. Most of us like it a whole lot.

I like both of them & think that there is more than enough room for them to peacefully co-exist. I think this needs to be moved to the Community Forum for flame control. Oh Sparks, where are you.....

I don't think there's any need for flames here. The two Forums are similar but not the same, lots of the same people (what's the odds of that?) Whenever the Hamster falls off the wheel here at BF, I go take a look over at KF, the pace is a whole lot slower. You should check them both out, but this really is the Main Place for Knife Talk on the Internet.

I was a knifeforumite first and then a Bladeforumite soon after. I like having both.

A knife is a one of human's first tool and weapon. Until peace prevails, it will continue to be so. I don't have a problem with that.

Somebody once asked me what the difference was between Olympia beer and Rainier beer. I told them hey, there's a difference, but they are both beer. And if you like drinking beer then drink 'em both.

So I drink 'em both, and enjoy each.

There's not as much controversy in this as there used to be.

Bladeforums broke away from KF a long time ago, when KF was under different ownership. The new KF owner appears to be a stand-up guy, there's no longer even the slightest "bad blood" between the two camps.

I barely have enough time to glance at a few BF forums, never mind try and digest two entire "universes".

It seems whatever forum or topic I go to Tom M. is present. He has a wealth of knowledge and a number of opinions.

KFC and BFC are both great places to hang out. We are about 5-7 times busier depending on which stat you are looking at but that is not indicative of the content value. Each site provides different content and each serves the community well.

Jim is doing good things with KFC and we wish him great luck and success. Although we are competitors "so to speak" we both share the same "customers" and these customers "shop" both sites. We must be aware of that fact and not alienate anyone.

Having a competing site keeps us on our toes and forces us to continue to look for ways to provide you all with unique content and keep you coming back. Hopefully we have accomplished that.

In a few days we will announce 2 great new features of BladeForums.Com that will knock your socks off. Look for yet another full page ad on page 31 in the August (Blade Show) issue of Blade Magazine. These new features will hopefully provide you with even more reasons to hang around here. Like some of you need more reasons to hang around here

Being #1 in size does not mean that we are #1 in content. To a great degree you, the member, provide the content here. The incredible community we have here is a testament to the dedication of the members, moderators and manufacturers who help out here. This is new territory and this type "real time" message board leads to many problems in the "I bet I can piss this guy off" department. The cool thing is that we handle these things as they come up and we do not have nearly as many as similar sites discussing other products or TV shows. Man some of these boards are nothing more that long drug out fights. Ya we have ours from time to time but for the most part that are just part of the entertainment I guess.

We have fun and we actually answer questions every now and then. All Spark and I do is provide the media, you guys (All of you) make it work.

Thanks to each of you for making this place such a great place to hang out.

To be fair, KFC does have some nice attractions, and it seems to have improved over the last several months. The Riddle of Steel forum, hosted by J. Keating, is really just awesome. I personally like the Marbles forum too and the Joe Talmadge moderated test/function/design forum has always been worth visiting.

I must admit though that I've never been a member of KFC, yet I've been a member of BFC for a year. Obviously, I think BF is better. However, the "Us vs. Them" attitude that comes up sometimes is just bizarre.

I firsted joined Knifeforums in Nov. of '98. The only forum there I was interested in was the HI one, and when it became just an archive, I no longer posted (though I do lurk occasionally.

Since the new owner took over at KnifeForums.com it has vastly improved for the better in many ways. I did not think it would survive, but it has come thru with flying colors and is a very pleasant place to go when things around here start to get slack.

They have some really great Forums over there and these two sites(Bladeforums and Knifeforums) actually compliment each other very well now.
Together, they seem to have the whole world of cutlery covered.

Kudos and two thumbs up to both sites!
