Dogleg jacks have a small end and a large end and taper in between, along with the curving - with the blades set at the small end -- the curve can actually go either way (the one shown is a standard dogleg - if the curve goes the other way then it's a reverse dogleg). A serpentine (or sometimes "premium") jack has ends and body of all one width - no taper, no large end/small end.
Not a dumb question at all & glad you asked it. While I have knives of both patterns, I could see a difference, but didn't know what constituted them exactly. Thanks for asking the question.
