What's the going rate for a gently used 560?

I missed these when they were first made and I have notion to blade swap it with a Cabela's AG, anodize the frame a june bug green, get a pocket clip put on, and a permanent dual thumbstud mounted. I have come around to wanting a "modernized" 110 folding hunter and hence the modification desires.

So what would be reasonable to pay to get a gently used 560?

Interesting mods....... Can you anodize the titanium frame? Probably $50 bucks, more or less for used. The older 560's are thicker in the frame than the newer ones, but shouldn't make much difference. This will be interesting to follow...

i also will want to follow this knife..
peaning the blade pivit will be the trick..
thick or thin you need to start with gray.
for anodizeing color it will depend quite a lot on voltage
i am not sure what green would be
gold is like 16 volts
deep burgendy or blue is higher like 60+ volts
chemical ... well coke will work!

I'm also interested in this course of action.

I have a damascus bladed version waiting for me know. A clip and thumb stud would be nice options, plus some thumb notches on the back of the blade (Buck, please listen, I'm asking nicely :-)

yea what he says!
he might not ask nice next time !!!:D

All of the mods would be outsourced.

Here's what's professionally possible anodizing titanium:

I think the blackened S30V blade of the AG with its logo removed mated with the medium green anodization in the third picture would be pretty sharp. Another exciting possibility I haven't fully researched would involve sourcing some titanium pins and anodizing them to either match or contrast the frame, but I don't know what is possible there given the peening required.

I have also thought of sending the locking bar to ROBAR Industries and get it finished with their NP3 teflon impregnated nickel finish. I have a 1911A1 finished that way inside and out save for the springs and I only ever have to wipe it down to totally clean it and never have to worry about corrosion. It's also self lubricating.

My leading candidate for a clip is the one used by the Benchmade 610 Rukus because it is a long, slim, black clip with two vertically mounted torx screws rather than three horizontally arcing screws. The rear bolster area would have to be dished a little to mount the clip to prevent it walking, but if executed correctly, it would look more integrated rather than bolted on.

The thumb studs will require a hole in the blade. I haven't yet explored how that'd best be done without buggering the heat treat.

I do think the finished product would be a looker compared to the stock product.

If you are following this project, don't hold your breath. I have a Skookum Bush Tool in CPM3V due next month, Christmas, and if November 4 goes all wrong, some "assault weapons" to buy ahead of January. There will always be 560s out there.

Who I'd really like to have make such a knife is Buck Knives International. The 560 was an interesting step towards "updating" the 110, but it wasn't a radical enough evolution.

Interestingly, Benchmade is making a sort of 110-ish looking AXIS equipped knife for the Harley Davidson line.

There is still time and space in the market for a 21st Century Buck 110. If my CS 110FG weren't a belt carry and were it somewhat lighter, it'd be my exclusive EDC. That inspires me to have my own made and the 560 is the test bed.

WOW!!! Good stuff here. On the clips, I have had a few loose their "tension" and have had to take them off and do some bending. Mainly on cheap junk that were basically throw aways. But one was a high dollar Swamprat folder.

I edc a Buck 174, or a Buck 179 and the clips have stayed tight for the couple of years I have been carrying them. I just had to use the blue locktite on them after loosing one screw.

anywho...just a thought on the clips. Looking forward to your mods.... now I am off to dig through the herd of 560's.
