whats the news on the paramilitary? have materials and specs been confirmed? And is there a projected release date?

S30V blade, .125 (3mm) thick, black G-10 scales, Military style clip, right hand tip down only. Compression lock. No date yet.

right hand tip down only?! what happened to the 4 way clip config mentioned so often earlier? Please don't dis the lefties AGAIN. It's hard enough to see righties enjoying the military, the Ti salsa, and pretty much every other high end model without hearing that the most anticipated Spydie of the decade is now going to be yet another high end model that's useless to lefties...

Please reconsider and go back to the original plan with the clip...at least make it reversible. I don't care if there's a tip up/down option, but PLEASE make it reversible! :(

well, you can count me out on this one. right handed tip down only? I mean right handed tip up I can work with IF the knife is REALLY good, but right handed tip down? It's gotta be better then the buck mayo

you have to think about this from a lefties perspective. If the knife is right handed clip tip up, and I put it in my left pocket since I'm a lefty, deploying the knife is kind of awkward but not too bad. But if it was right handed clip tip down and I put it in my left pocket, deploying it is a bit too clunky. This is just my personal opinion of course

Fret not, Manji! Gary Graley has shown me the light and the light says that righ-handed, tip-down is a pretty sweet deal for we of the soutpawed persuasion. That's how he made a sheath for me and it's awesome for immediately having the knife able to be used.

When you retrieve such a knive from your front-left pocket, the spine of the handle is lying across your palm and the Spyderhole is right by your thumb awaiting immediate deployment. Think of it as a folding knife iaido setup without the hassle of a cross-draw.

We've been spoiled and didn't know it.

Numberthree,

I thought the Ti Salsa was ambidextrous. It's not?

Does anybody know whether they are going to put "PARAMILITARY" on the blade in big black letters?

I sure hope not.

I was talked out of the wire clip by the forumites. A design specific clip was decided on, which will not work tip up and down (like the Military model). We thought about supplying two clips, but decided that if sales are acceptable, we'll make a lefty specific model, like we're going to do with the Military.

Too bad. My BM806 taught me that holes are a pretty good way to open knives so I started buying Spydies. My Meercat convinced me that wire clips are OK, so my next purchase will be a 3-D Native.

All compression locks (if not framelocks) require dual liners.

Excellent.

Now that it's got full liners just leave those letters off the blade and I'll buy one.

Bummer. I'll have to look making my own clip when the Para comes out. My Military clip has scratched up so much furniture in the house, my wife won't allow another one.

I don't think the clip will look much different, she'll never know :D

Okay, I'm starting to like posting on Bladeforums because its obvious that Sal looks over most of our postings. I hope that he could maybe consider some other characteristics of this new knife. If he is looking to market it for the reception it will get from the collectors and regular spydie fan club maybe he should consider it coming out with a tan G10 handle before the black G10 handle. And reverse the decision on the clip only being offered one way. Why have two models for left and right when you could possibly get more sales and support for different variations of handles. I'm starting to come to the opinion that the steel used in the blades is quality made anyhow wether its VG-10, ATS-55, any type of AUS, etc. So why not focus more on the types of handles the knife or knives are offered for the buyers and collectors. I know personally that if I get a BUG :) for a certain type of spydie, and I wish to have it as collector pieces I will most likely try to get any form it comes in to date. Go figure! I have with the natives... the only type of native I refuse to touch is the BRKs. I have all the others made with the latest on the way from PA. Just my suggestion Sal! You pamper us the way I've seen so far and you will have customers long after you and I are gone. :)
