I love multi tools. I have managed to collect a few, and I am wondering which one I should get next. Here's a list of what I have now...

1. Leatherman Style
2. Leatherman Style CS
3. Leatherman Micra
4. Leatherman Squirt ES4
5. Leatherman Squirt PS4
6. Leatherman MUT
7. Leatherman Super tool 300
8. Leatherman Charge Tti
9. SOG Powerlock

Which one should I get next to add to my collection and why?

If you're into collecting, Victorinox Spirit is most definitely a worthy item.
- Because it includes an awl and a chisel, it's the most appropriate MT for the wilderness.
- Fit and finish is typical of a Victorinox, which is the best of all the MTs.
- It's one of few MTs that can rightly be described as ergonomic.

You should add the Leatherman Wave, since it's an icon. I'm missing the Juice line too. And since you don't have a Swiss product in your list, add one or more of the Victorinox multitools too. :-)

you've got a really nice collection going there (salute)

I also think you need a Wave and a Vic Spirit (or larger Swisstool which is about the size of your Sog) for comparison in quality, tool selection, feel in your hand ;)

I'd also try a Gerber (like a Diesel) if only because they are trying to be better (quality) and are a fun MT (I played with a few at wally world few times)

do you have any SAK's? (swiss army knives) they are a multi-tool staple to many of us and can get pretty addicting (careful lol)

So far you have touched on all Leatherman sizes but the medium range. Any Juice would cover that category. Of them, the S2 is the real charmer, easily pocketable and IMHO the most representative of that line. A Wave could be deferred for later, since your Charge is basically the same thing.

In re pliers based multitools I am very much a Leatherman kind of guy, but even so I think the Swisstool Spirit is well worth a look. Its design and manufacture are first class and those who consider it best of breed can make a strong case. OTOH, we each have our own kinds of uses for a multitool and for me, it was not a good fit. However, the reasons I passed on it may not apply to you.

So far everyone has mentioned the Victorinox Spirit, so I think I will make that my first choice (the Wave is probably next), but it brings up another question for me - Black oxide or not. Right now, my Super Tool 300 and SOG Powerlock are black. My Charge is from Cabela's, and is their special offering, called the Seclusion Charge. It is basically camoflaged with black tools. Of the smaller tools, the Micra is the only one that is strictly steel. The Squirts and Styles have their own color scheme. I quess my question is what advantage or disadvantage is provided by blacke oxide.
You guys have really helped me in my decision making process, so don't hold back!!!

I just pulled the trigger on a Victorinox SwissTool Spirit. I am excited to get this one because I have often heard that the Spirit is a comfortable tool to use - we'll see!

Here's a picture of my Multi Tools so far...

Nice collection. I don't own a black oxide Leatherman, but since you already own two of them, you could get yourself the classic Wave instead of the black oxide version.

You'll not be sorry with the Spirit, great tool and my normal EDC. I'd also suggest a Skeleltool/Skeletool CX, it fits in very well with your Style and MUT tools. For the same reason I'd also look at the Juice range, fits in well as the bigger brother to your Squirts. The C2 would get you the right colour, but I'd either go for the S2 or the Cs4 on a practical front.

The Spirit is a great versatile MT. I have the model with 2 blades and no scissors.

It's usually the one that tags along around the house.

The only complaint are the pilers - they are not needle nose like most of the Leathermans.

As a collector, you will have to decide what product variations are important enough to include in your collection. Otherwise, black oxide and camouflage, while useful for military and hunting purposes, are valuable only if you enjoy spending lots of time looking for lost stuff. It's also good for staining hands, clothes etc., and only costs slightly more for those benefits.

I do spend quite a lot of time fishing, and a little time hunting, thought I doubt I would realize any benefit from camo or black oxide while doing so. I guess it boils down to me as a collector and what I do and don't like that dictates what finishes I add to my collection. I just bought two more multi tools in stainless steel finish - a Leatherman Wave, and a Victorinox Swisstool Spirit.
At this point, the only tools I own with the black oxide finish are the Super Tool 300 and the SOG Powerlock, and I have a Charge Tti in camo (from Cabela's).

You NEED a Wave and/or a Surge...They are pretty much the same, aside from their size/weight difference.

I just bought a Leatherman Wave and a Victorinox Swisstool Spirit. The Spirit got here this morning (Saturday). I'm hoping the Wave gets here Monday.

I don't think there is any mail/package delivery today, as it's a Holiday (Dead President's Day). I am also waiting the arrival of a Wave (for my wife).
