My poor doc works hard always gives extra time to her paitents and I want to give her a doctors pattern from case or queen. Is there any other manufacture of this pattern in my price range. Any ideas on handle material.

There should be plenty of patterns and handle materials around your price range (speaking of Case, only...I don't know about Queen). Ther are also the Case 'Baby Docs, ' smaller versions of the larger Doctor knives.

You can get Handle materials in just about anything, but I'd suggest something that's easy to clean (soap, water, mild cleaning agents to remove blood and body fluids) and can take bangs and scraps (pocket worn bones, some of the faux stags, jade green bone). Hope this helps.

P.S.
She may enjoy the configuration that comes with a blade and a spatula.

Speaking of the spatula ...
I do not really see any use since it is more like a McDonald's stirrer or a flat paddle. I would use it for my coffee more than anything else. My $0.02.

Maybe some Dr knife users can shed light on this.
Thanks.

It's pretty tough to beat a Queen Cocobolo doctors knife in D2 steel for $43.95. http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=QN96CO

I've seen that Queen doctor knife advertised as both D2 and 420HC. Are there two different knives or is one advertisement wrong?

The flat butt of the doctor's knife was used for crushing pills to powder. The spatula was used to separate amounts of the powder into doses.
