What's the % on your lock up?

Nearly all of mine are 50% with a slow open, and 75% with a fast open.

My 3 1/3 yr. old Lg 21 & 1 1/2 yr. old Sm 21 are both right around 66% (2/3rds) engaged.

My experience with Sebs has been extremely positive as far as perceived lock longevity. The longest I've owned a single Sebenza was ~5yrs which was carried every single day. CRKs lock fitting is hard to if not impossible to better. Once the Ti galls into place a bit it seems like it would take an exceptional amount of wear to cause a problem.

Either way I personally just don't care about a spot on ideal lockup anymore. I think we as a community have taken it way too far. I love love love my CRKs but my Strider folders are my favs for what they are which exceeds what they are not. As far as preferences go... CRKs positives completely outshine any negatives and I imagine they always will.

I only had 5 or so Seb's around here but all were about 50-70 %, I too am not concerned unless theres play:thumbup: and if a problem does arise im confident CRK would fix it. I feel a later lockup is probly safer, I know I see some framelocks barely engaged (not CRK's) and that would concern me.

I agree. I've stopped caring about lockup coverage on my CRKs. In general, I understand that people think an early lockup is good to allow the titanium to wear over time, but I'd personally rather have more of the tang covered for safety. Either way, with CRK it just doesn't matter. The lock is heat treated and doesn't seem to move even over many years. And even if it does, a quick trip to the spa can adjust the lock and re-heat treat the lockbar. So no worries for me. My sebenzas all lock up with more confidence then any of my other knives.

I own a lg micarta seb and a small starbenza. Both have stayed near 40%. Is it true that sebs are an exception to the general "rule" that early lockup is better? I am assuming it is by design?

Edit: my question was actually discussed in the above post. Anymore input though to add to the discussion would be great.

I used to be concerned that my Zann was at about 90% but it has not moved in 3 years. The rest of my sebbies are right around 50-70% , so life is good and safe. One question, will a spa trip correct the Zann if it gets to 100%? Thanks for any info.

I'm right at about 40% - 50% on my Large 21.
Sometimes it looks like it's 60%
Either way it's all good with me lol.

Just a FYI, the percentage of your lockup on your Sebs is a non-issue, they will not "wear-in" like most framelocks ie Strider.

What your knife is locked up at from day 1 will be what it is locked up for many years, they might move a hair, but rest assured, if it ever does move over so the lockbar is touching the other scale AND bladeplay occurs, CRK will take care of you.

Wherever it is, it's pretty easy to adjust the lockup. I changed mine from about 90% to maybe 40%, then bumped it back up to about 70%.

I honestly dont think its even remotely possible to wear out a Sebenza lockbar with normal use in a single person's lifetime. I'm sure it happens but I'm inclined to believe it's usually because of improper maintenance, questionable usage, or both by the owner. There is the slim chance that you just got a defective knife, which happens to the best of them. I dont give a crap about CRK lockup % anymore. I used to but not anymore after my own personal experiences with 7 different Large Sebenzas, 1 Small Sebenza, and 4 Umnumzaans. Once that lock wears in, it takes ages for it to budge if at all.
