I'm laying the angle way back on this pm2 free hand and this problem is occuring.

I had this pm2 for a while and reprofiled it in the past and this one spot was problematic. It came messed up like this from Spyderco. Now as the bevel is larger it stands out a lot. Spending more time in the area on the diamond plate doesn't seem to touch it... I left it alone in the past as i hit the apex already and thought it will be fixed with later sharpening. What's going on dudes?

I can sharpen the knife out and hit that one spot with lower angle a bit so it doesnt stand out as much. Anybody had issues like this before? Anything else i can do? Thx

Or increase the angle and take off material to meet the low spot? This is fugleeeee. Nm this don't make sense...

Have similar problem with Cara Cara. If the FFG isn't totally flat & symmetrical, this will be the result.

You'll have a straight/centered apex with fugly bevel or nice bevel but not centered or different grind angle. Can't have it both.

Since sharpening & grinding removes metal, plan carefully. You can't put it back.

Last option is sent it in for them to fix. Describe clearly what you want.

Good luck!

To me it looks like the blade has a warp. It sways away on the side where the grind is thinner, and on the opposite side it will be a slight bit wider than the rest or the same (freehand is easier to comp the outside curve on a warp, if jig sharpening it will show up wider).

Or it could be J jpm2 a thin spot in the grind on one side.

Either way the only fix is to regrind the primary. You can fudge the cosmetics a bit by grinding that spot on the edge of the stone to even out the bevel.

I was getting a bit of this while slightly reprofiling my Para2 S110 from 30 thou. plus behind the edge down to 25 thou. or a tad less behind the edge. The whole time fighting a tremendous temptation to take the sides of the blade to my slow turning white wheel that runs in a water bath and just hollow grinding the whole dang thing down to something like my Gayle Bradley which is 14 thou. behind the edge.

Yup probably the best fix, for aesthetics, is to hollow grind it. Probably want to send it to one of the Pros here.

PS: 30 to 25 sounds trivial; what I was actually doing was making the edge bevels right at the very edge shallower and happened to measure the blade thickness behind the edge out of curiosity.

Thx all. I'm kinda getting used to how it looks for now. Looking forward to seeing how it will cut. No idea what angle this is. Will figure it out when i finish sharpening. In the future I'll look into ways of thinning the whole blade out.

Agree with decision.

Unless you have belt system, wheel grinder (like wowbagger) or good flat coarse/xcoarse stones, thinning a primary to fix it might be challenging.

I haven't really managed fixing the primary of my Cara2 well, and it's fugly. It cuts well though. ;)

You are right on the good side the bevel started widenin in that area.
Thing cuts like a demon.
I unlocked the abuse your pm2 challenge.
Think I'm done with low angles for now.

Put a few scratches in it so it doesn't stand out too much.
