What's the significance of the "ruck"?

shorter than the AK, so you can stick it in/on your RUCKsack.
 
I thought it was a PC term for what most people say when they handle one for the first time. :-)
 
Like in "Hey, quit ruckin around with that, you'll put your eye out"

As I understood, it was the pack reference. Shorter = ruck portability.
 
Hmmm... I wonder if we'll be seeing a tantō called a "Man Purse Kensei" or a "European Carryall Kensei"?

Come to think of it, maybe that's what the knife in adrock1978's avatar should be called. Or is that the even smaller "Butt Pack Kensei"?
