j/k be carefull if you try this, my knife got flung a couple times:jerkit:
mili then para:

It's fun.

And if you do it with your middle finger it actually places you hand in a position to cut faster than using your thumb since there is no rotation of the knife.

To me its just unnecessary beating of a knife.

I could slam my drivers side door shut every I got out of my truck but I don't.

I'll admit I thought it was "cool" when I got my first real knife (Benchmade Grip) because it came open smooth and made a nice pop when it got locked in place...but now I just view it as pointless wear.

What's the spyderhole for? Well, I'll tell you what it's not for... :o

But seriously, be careful you might slice off a finger or two trying to flick the knife like that.

Not sure what you're doing with those poor knives, but the background is nice. I don't flick knives open anymore at least not hard at all. There is no situation I would ever flick a knife open like that.

Chris Griffin: Dad, whats the blowhole for?
Peter Griffin: Son, I'll tell you what it's not for, and when I do you will understand why i can never go back to Sea World.

Careful, cutting yourself is not the worst that can happen. Open your knife like that is some legal jurisdictions (NYC for one) and if caught by a cop, you've just earned a felony.

I just enjoy opening it like that, boht my mili and para have pretty weak detents, I just noticed recently I could flick it open when I dropped my knife and noticed the blade almost fully opened. My knives have not opened in my pocket however

You can do that with a lot of knives. Try opening your knives without making any sound at all and without anyone being able to see it. Then you'll have a skill that's useful.

The Hole is to remind us that it revolutionized the knife world.
:D

i always flick open my spyderco's using one hand , with a flick of my thumb in the spydy hole and a slight flick/twist of the wrist , knives open up perfect every time .

Flipping is fun and all, but there are times when you want more control of the knife when opening. It would be poor form to fling a blade off a 16' ladder on to a crowded stage. It also makes you look less like a mall ninja in public.

I got good chuckle out of that:D I'll have to work on my form some:p

I don't quite understand what he's doing in that video, but I generally open Spydercos by flicking with my middle finger (it's odd, I know). I find it more comfortable than opening with the thumb hole.

Obviously I don't do this when I'm around a lot of people, and I don't try to do it particularly aggressivley, but I find it to be fun & a good way to open knives.
