What's the weird cutout on my Benchmade Rescue Hook?

Hi everyone.
My Benchmade Rescue Hook came today, and I remembered having seen a discussion here about older and newer models. How does one tell what one has?
Mine has a little hole that I presume is for the oxygen wrench that people here spoke of (and for which I have no use). But at the "butt" end of the tool is a small wide hole that is not fully enclosed: a tiny gap about the thickness of a piece of paper reaches to the outer edge of the tool's butt. What is this for??

i have no idea either
but here's a pic for those who don't know what he's referring to

i presume it's the cutout right in the middle of the picture

It's there to cut belts, clothing, etc away from victims of accidents and other things and not harm them any further.
The other thing you asked is something I don't know, but I think it's of no meaning, might be to clip your keys in or something, don't know it at all
Might be to cut little wires, like those used for fishing!

And the answer is:

The laser used to cut the hook out of the sheet of steel is more efficient if it runs one continous cut, rather than piercing a new hole and cutting a lanyard hole shape. It is simply done to help keep the cost of the product down.

Wow... it's because of production. I was thinking it was some neat feature I hadn't figured out yet. :)

The O2 wrench (the slot in the circle, like Keith said) fits over the post on top of the O2 bottles when you can't find the regular wrench. It has less mechanical advantage than a standard 7 inch (approx) O2 wrench, but it beats trying to use your fingers in an emergency.

Good Evening All-

Don't even bother trying to use the bottle-opener feature. There is little leverage, and if you slip, you'll lop-off a finger. Not worth the risk, IMHO.

How would you lop off a finger assuming it isn't in the belt cutter groove? But it is best to use the right tool for the job.

I really need to get one of the newer models with the O2 wrench. I am always searching for one at work when we have to transport a vented patient. That would make life alot easier.
