Whats the Whitest White wood out there?
Say that three times fast... :)
Looking for a really white wood suitable for handles that could be stabilized if needed.

Holly is the most pure white I've seen.

I can't vouch for it personally but I've also been told that holly is a good choice, especially when going for an ivory-type look.

Holly is the whitest wood that I know of. I saved a 6 foot piece from the shredder that I'll
make a hiking staff out of, when it's done curing in the shed for the shed for at least two years.

I tried to google Holly Wood...

You can imagine that was a useless search...

"Holly Lumber" will get you there.

Stacy, does holly have to be stabilized? Traditional boat builders down here use it as "filler" strips on teak cabin floors and it gets a fair bit of wear and tear.

I've also used holly that started out pure white, but every time in a few months it turned yellowish. It was not stabilized.

Holly should have a clear finish applied. You can't polish the wood, or oil finish it. Colt used it on some of their commemorative guns. It looks great when properly finished.
