Whats the word on Fehrman?

A couple of years ago I discovered some youtube videos of a masked man using a Busse Battle Mistress to tear apart cars, concrete blocks and just about anything else. I decided I wanted one then found out its a discontinued model and aftermarket prices were outrageous. I came across Fehrman Knives website and found the final judgement. I have never held one of these knives, but always thought they had the proper credentials to be a strong hard use knife line. I've been watching them on the for sale forums, and perform searches for discussion every so often, but just haven't found people as excited about these knives as I expected to see. I am speaking from lack of experience, being as I have never used one. So now I am curious. Are there any excited Fehrman fans out there? Any reviews/comparisons with other hard use knife brands? I have been tempted to buy one out of curiosity, but am worried my perception of their greatness may not be realized and don't want to pay for a relatively expensive item without some more knowledge/recommendations from others.

I have a couple and really like them. It depends what you want them for, they are kind of a quiet company. You really have to hold one, then you will either love it or not, the ergonomics are "strong", for the lack of a better word. You'll either like it, or sell it, that's what usually happens.

They use CPM 3V as their main steel, which has very good wear resistance and excellent toughness. It is easy to sharpen (IMO), and they grind the primary and secondary bevels thin enough for me for their stated purposes. I usually find myself thinning out grinds from other makers, but didn't have to with the Fehrmans. Don't get me wrong, they're plenty sturdy, but not sharpened prybars.

Personally, I really like them, my favorite by far is their Peacemaker. YMMV.

I spent 15 minutes last week with Eric Fehrman about knives. First of all he is a tool and die maker, he just makes knives on the side. This could be the lack of advertising. He did tell me he sells three extreme judgment's to every one final judgement.

His knives are superb IMO. I am going to buy an extreme judgment soon. I have a final judgment. You can't go wrong with his knives.

I have a Last Chance which is an uber sturdy knife; the 3V steel is awesome. Funny design though and maybe I don't carry it as much as I should/could. With hindsight, I'd go with one of the larger models, First Strike or Final Judgement, for the chopping ability or the smaller Peacemaker for the control. But no, you can't have my LC.

+1 on the Last Chance. I can't speak for the others, but because of my experience with the LC, I'll be getting a Shadow Scout as well. They've had a significant price jump in the last few, so keep that in mind. If you want one, remember they don't get cheaper! Neither the design nor the steel will let you down.

Great knives. I have a few of his, would like to pick up more. Great fit and finish in addition to the 3V steel.

Excellent knives; I had a first strike and that knife it is a beast. You won't go wrong with one of these knives for sure.

Own a Last Chance and love it.....and I mean LOVE IT!! I would like to purchase an Extreme Judgement.....gotta find the money!! These are truly great quality, hard-use knives and you cannot go wrong with whatever you buy from Eric.
