Anyone know why Jerry switched and if the switch is permanent? Also I want an sr77 knife how do I tell which is which? Thanks all.

Dan is the man at Scrapyard. I don't think you hear much because SR101 is almost indisputably better(in my opinion). I am glad I can get all the SR101 with Res-C I want now.

I'm looking for a pure cheap beater knife. ..toughness above all else...I do agree that sr101 is a better overall steel but this is going to be heavily abused.

You aren't going to hurt your SR101, and right now it's going to be less expensive than SR77 anyway.

Proceed to the abuse freely with a fearless heart and you shall prevail

......yes this... many are emotionally attached to SR77 but 101 is not going to let you down either.

SR77 is tougher than SR101 but SR101 is tougher than I will ever need it to be.

I was gonna chop and do semi abusive things...but my friend is demoing an old small house made of brick and I wanted something that I can use a demo bar/knife..so it will come into contact with metal..concrete. .brick..wood..and who knows what else.

I'll have my crovel in the car as well so I guess that should cover it....and I say abuse but I prefer the term extreme love lol.

It wouldn't be my first choice for demoing a brick house, lol.
You can make a sledge hammer and crow bar fun, though.

Why not just get a big sledgehammer and prybar? If you want a new toy, get something made for that like a halligan tool
