A few months ago we heard of one guy who got a factory FFG ZDP Endura from TheBladeShop. That's the only one I think we've heard of so far. Has anyone else there gotten one of these?

No, but I got a VG-10 FFG G10 Endura that is just fantastic.

In another purchase I debated getting the ZDP189 Stretch but ended up getting the VG-10 instead. Concerns over corrosion and difficultly sharpening ultimately decided the issue for me.

Is VG-10 more resistant to corrosion than ZPD189?

Much, much more. VG-10 is renowned for its corrosion resistance. ZDP-189, on the other hand, is composed of 3% carbon. This makes it much more susceptible to corrosion (although I personally haven't had issues with that.)

My ZDP-189 Endura has developed a bit of a patina over the years, and it's kept in a zip-lock bag.
The trade off is more than worth it however, ZDP-189 really does excel in edge holding.

Zip lock bag!

I recently bought two Caly Jrs. with the ZPD-189/420J2 blade....I'm not planning to bag them.

I really think that corrosion resistance is not an issue with ZDP except for people who use them in a marine environment.

Sure, if you put your knife away encrusted with mud and left it there for a month, it just might corrode.

But if you EDC it and wipe it down once a week with a light lube it's a NON-ISSUE!:p

Hey, I agree. I'm just saying that nonetheless, VG-10 is still much, much more corrosion resistant lol

I've carried my ZDP Endura IWB on hot, sweaty days, and I've never even seen a hint of discoloration.

The rust resistance of zdp is a great topic, maybe someone should start a thread for it :). So does anyone know any more about the availability of the factory FFG zdp enduras and delicas? It would be awesome if someone from spyderco could chime in.

KFS seems to be stocking the FFG ZDP endura's

:o I know it's horrible to bag any knife. They deserve an open, free range to cut lots of stuff, but alas, it has 67! (just counted) friends to share my pockets with.
At least a few times a year it gets the chance to stretch its legs. Please, don't call the humane society, I treat all my knives with respect, and they are well cared for.
