What's this? (a Busse novice asks)

I bought these two Busses recently, and the middle one was described as a Hairy Carry, but I can't find any photos of anything like it when I google "swamp rat custom hairy carry"... the Hairy Carry seems to be something else.

I'm not unhappy with it -- far from it, it's absolutely gorgeous! -- I would like to know what it really is though.

Thanks.

SAR3 is Busse, and the Hairy Carry has a different handle shape.
That looks like a Rodent 3, with green/black g10, to me.

(sorry about the flash glare - I didn't feel like setting up lights to do it right at this hour)

It is Custom Shop full flat ground, satin Rodent 3 with what looks like OD green/black G10 handle.
The stock R3s are saber ground with black coating and black canvas micarta handles. The common range of handle options is available through custom shop.

Yup, middle is a Rodent 3 and the bottom is a Terror Monkey Boss Sreet from the Spring Knob Creek show 5 or 6 years ago

Thanks, people.

Does anyone know what the perceived "value" of this Rodent 3 as compared to an (unspecified) Hairy Carry would be? Since I've presumably paid for a HC, as that's what the guy thought he was selling me, do you think he owes me anything (or me him)?

Not knowing what you paid, it's difficult to comment; but, from what I've seen of Hairy Carry sales (vs crazy marked up BINs that don't sell) on eBay, you made out okay.
PM coming with more specific info.

That depends, HC prices seem to hike up and down, at some levels they are in the same bracket as custom R3 would be.

Yeah - it really depends on what you paid. No need to post it here. The PM I sent will give you the cost of a new R3 in that configuration - comparing that to the secondary market is tough, though; because there are people that automatically mark up Bussekin by a pretty good margin and still manage to sell them.

Yep! That is a Rodent 3 with Green and Black G10 handles. Congrats on your score!

Thanks all. Dead pleased with them, and I can't wait for my ganzaas to come through too.

The PITS is a superb knife, legal for UK carry and the best slipjoint I have owned. Check it out.

Rodent 3... Great score with that full flat grind. More solid than any knife has a right to be, slices beautifully.
Surely one of the best, most comfortable, EDC fixed blades around.

Think I'm in love:love_heart:
