Very annoying and mall-ninjaish, but some one just posted it on FaceBook and I'm curious.

That's Strider's knife from LOTR, but in knife terms I guess you could call it a trailing clip point. Or fantasy. :D

Trailing clip point.....I love it! I am scared to think of who and what would skin and be skinned by it.
TC :)

I just saw it and thought it was out of a video game or something! Cool to see Strider is doing something like this.
I didn't realise it was a nice piece- a very annoying child posted a picture of him with the caption "I want this" or something similar.
Thanks FortyTwoBlades.
P.S I'm loving the El Salvador 18" that you recommended before, chopped down like 8 full grown bamboo trees with it effortlessly, now my arm hurts.

EDIT: I read this wrong. I haven't slept in 3 days and I thought you said Strider made it, as in Strider knives.. I was right about it being a gimmicky turd, I think.

United Cutlery did an official licensed version, then a bunch of others jumped on. The licensed ones may still be around, but they're made of stainless, and I don't know if they're good for much of anything but wall-hanging.

Bwaaaaaahaaaaahaaaaaa I literally just LOL'ed at the idea of Strider Knives doing the props for a fantasy film. Dwarves with breaching hatchets! :D :D :D

And there's nothing necessarily wrong with the design although it obviously has a lot of stylization to it. If executed by a custom maker rather than a company known mostly for putting out Chinese-made wallhangers it could be a perfectly serviceable knife design.

Words cannot begin to describe the awesome....

That's exactly what I was thinking! I kind of like the design.

I don't mean any offense or disrespect, but how does it being made by Strider automatically turn it into a nice piece? You initially found the design annoying, and with the mention of Strider you immediately came to like it. When it comes to aesthetics, blade grinds and handle shapes (basically things you can get a rough idea of from a picture), should the brand matter this much?

I have seen quite some nonsensical knives made by well reputed custom makers, and also knives from manufacturers nobody has ever heard of but turned out just fine. I'm just wondering if most of us today are more caught up with the reputation of an item rather than what it's really worth.
