Well it didn't come from my Dad, but when I got my first custom knife the seller said "People are inherently nice, you just have to ask..." so yeah I am giddy to finally own a Manrikigarotte.

I think this package is old style as the teardrop is plain Bead Blast and not anodized. Any thoughts on that?

Also the main question. The package came with this kydex thingee. It is shaped like a paddle and has a notch to hold the steel bar on the finger ring I htink. It looks liek a buttplate. the kydex rig you put sheaths on when you want to put a sheath rigid in your back pocket. I presume this is what it's for but then again I se no reason why you woudl need this setup to carry the garotte in yoru backpocket. You can as easily put it in there, not liek it keeps it upright.. my guess would be that it woudl keep the finger hole just on the top of your back pocket for extraction??

DOn't you love how these things are so user friendly.. I guess they woudl be since they are secret super hero stuffs.

excuse me while I contionue to fiddle with this damn belt.. Thanks as well for the help MrG

The complete V-Gar System with all carrying options would include the following;

ManrikiGarrotte (of course)

Belt

One Pouch that has a velcro closure, a grommet at the end and with fold-out "wings" with velcro on them. This pouch can be worn vertically by running a belt through a slot or horizontally by pulling the "wings" apart and folding them over the belt, they secure, wrap around the belt by velcro on the "wings." Or, you could even wrap the "wings" and secure them to the strap of a duffel bag or backpack too. Or run a Static Cord through the Grommet and carry it a few different ways as well. Attaching it to a V-Stat Bag, etc...

Another pouch has a velcro closure, but does not have the tabs, the aforementioned "wings" with velcro on them. It is a simple pouch with a velcro closure in the mouth. It has a grommet as well. This could be used in many different ways as well, you could run the Static Cord through the grommet and cow hitch the Static Cord to your belt or belt loop and drop the pouch in your pocket. To draw it, you grab the Static Cord and pull. With a little practice, it will become obvious how you draw like that.

The Kydex Paddle should have a Chicago Screw at the top of it. This was designed to be used with that second pouch. You unscrew the 2-piece Chicago Screw, place the smaller pouch so the grommet and the hole in the Kydex Paddle match, then you put the screw through it and screw it together.

The Kydex can then be placed on the inside pocket of many jackets and vests, with the pouch for the V-Gar hanging inverted. Quick draw, like having a shoulder rig without the straps.

sweet Sir Don... took me forever to figure out what a Grommet was (besides a cute clay dog) but I got it.. nice little toys here.
