Exactly what is Gerber's Stainless Steel???

And is this knife any good? Has someone USED it? I am more used to my RC 4, my BM's and Mr. Emerson's folders. But this one is for sale in my local store, and it called out to me.

And merry Christmas to all of you knifenuts out there, my second family ehemm..

the tech specs list 440a, not the greatest but if it's like my other gerbers it will do alright and be pretty easy to sharpen. i dont have this particular model but i have 4 gerbers folders and fixed blades and all mine are
Merry Christmas to you!

A little off topic, but I used to think the old Gerber Magnum Hunter armorhide knives were 440 stainless. It seems from some googling that they were actually chrome plated, high speed tool steel, supposedly M2 at RC 60-62. That sound right to the Gerber experts ?

It's also a little humorous in retrospect the mighty MAGNUM HUNTER's blade only had a 5 & 1/2" edge and was 1/8" thick (0.125"). Actually a pretty cool knife design. ;)
