My daughter was out at a yard sale recently and bought a knife for my collection. When I showed it to a friend at Ace Hardware he became excited about it. Its a small Gerber lockblade 'Silver Knight', with one blade. It looks like bone handles with an engraving of a couple of ducks on one side. It appears to be pretty old, i.e. its been sharpened a lot, and theres a small chip on one side of the handle. I like it. Its a nice pocket knife. But is it worth anything?

Those are great little knives, contract-made in Japan for Gerber. They are common on eBay so you can do a Completed Items search to find out what they're currently selling for. My guess, since it's broken and used it's worth very little.

You can also search BladeForums for more info. I know they've been discussed before.

Sounds like someone scrimshawed on the handles. Nice little piece, I'm currently waiting on my wood scale model to be delivered. AUS8 steel AG Russell stated.

I think the scrimshaw is original, like on this knife:

For price comparison, a small 80's (?) japanese-made with an eagle (parker?) in like-new condition, lock-back, brass bolster, red stone handles-scrimmed with a ship, and the word Maui was $15 at a recent knife show.

Thanks guys. I'm working on selling things on eBay, and I'll bet I can learn a lot here.

The first run of those knives were marked "Silver Eagle", parker objected and thereafter they were marked "Silver Knight"

These knives in new condition are worth up to $250 depending on handle material.
