Yes......quite an interesting knife.

Not my cuppa tea and I did not and would not have bid, but I thought it best to take a chance on posting it.

Sorry I didn't do it soon enough for you to see before it ended, Dave.

Congrats on the cool new name, by the way......looks great.

Yep,

That is one ugly old Buck knife. I had been watching that one for some time. I'm sure the seller was happy for the free public forum advertisement 6.5 hours before his auction ended. I wonder if that drove the price to were it ended or if it would have got there anyway? It was at $95 when it was posted here. Any way that is one odd shaped blade.

My question is: Is it legit-looks kalinga type blade and buck bowie handle, but still, is it legit?

Pretty hard for anybody to say for sure if it's legit.

Maybe a few people here could make an educated guess. Personally, I'd guess not legit, but I've never seen one before, so I'm not the best guesser.

Anyhow, interesting and unusual knife. I thought maybe somebody here might appreciate having the chance to take a look.

to the best of my understanding and this is open to correction ..

after Al Buck decided to only advertise the standard model knives they made
chuck and frank got permission from their dad to full the custom orders
chuck and his brother frank was known to make big burly custom bucks for
good customers that walked in and from mail orders also
frank contuned to make big bucks in the custom shop
after chuck become involved in the company's business end

it is my belief it is a real buck ...

If you say so, I'd tend to think you'd be correct, Dave......because you've probably seen way more actual knives than me.

But did they mirror polish the blades like that? And what about the guard? Doesn't it look a bit light and flimsy for a Buck of that type?

Those were my only questions on it, since the stamp looks right and I know they did make some strange-shaped blades.
