I picked this up from the Bay recently primarily because it looked like a solid knife and the seller was willing to let it go at a price I was willing to pay. During my pre-purchase research however, I simply could not ID the knife and came to the conclusion that it was something slapped together with leftovers toward the end. When I opened the package I braced myself for disappointment but was pleasantly surprised (amazed actually) at how beefy this bad boy is. I was also amazed to see obvious grind marks along the spine toward the tip leading me to believe that the blade possibly had a gut hook at one time . To add to the confusion, the knife came with a well-made Western sheath, albeit with torn stitches.

So, any ideas as to what the heck I bought?

By the way, in spite of the grind marks (which I have since sanded to what you see in photo) the knife was described by the seller as "mint." :jerkit:

Slapped together!
Handles were from the Camillus Rosewood Collection (kitchen knives).
Sheath was in stock.
I don't think it was a modified gut hook, but I could be wrong.

Same knife, I would imagine that this one with the gold plated buck came first.

Sid Bell was the wildlife artist that made the gold plated pewter animals featured in the Camillus Wildlife series (#10 & #11 knives and others).
The buck inserts were left overs too!!

I've seen this Ole Buck logo before but I don't recall exactly where. I've looked at just about every .pdf on Irv's site to no avail. Can anyone fill me in?
