What's up with Camillus, the Maxx in particular?

First off, I wanted to post this here instead of in the Camillus sub-forum, because I thought there would be a better chance of someone knowing the answer. If, however, the mods feel differently, I apologize.

Anyway, I had the urge to get my hands on another Camillus Maxx with PE Bowie blade. I've been watching Ebay for months and the cheapest Maxx (with SE blade) is around $160, and the only PE version is $225!! I remember buying and selling these knives for $125 or so, and I had one LNIB Maxx that I bought for $100.

Why is it so hard to find a PE bladed Maxx for a reasonable price? Did Camillus discontinue the knife? Or was there a recent price increase? I searched the web and I couldn't find any news that would explain my difficulty. TIA for any info.

have ya seen any daggers for sale, i have been watching for 1 of those and they seem to be scarce also. i dont know why they even make the combo edge ones myself, great knives though i love the dagger traded mine away a while back & time to replace it i guess.

Wow. I hadn't realized the price was holding like that. I still have one on ice from my original pre-order, another one I traded for and I'm less one I traded away.

That's interesting. From what I have heard, the Maxx is still selling well for them. I know titanium is at a premium these days and is very hard to find in certain thickness. It's possible this could be the root cause.

I know that production of the 7" MAXX was delayed by Camillus' commitments to producing knives and bayonets for use by our troops. Perhaps this has continued and I suspect that the MAXX series is not a high priority as a knife for the sandbox. I checked s number of new dealers and they are flat out of stock on them.
