Great knives no doubt, but It seemed to me Pre-Pandemic that Hinderers were semi-attainable. I remember seeing a harpoon spanto, mulling it over, and buying it a couple of days later. Now DLT puts up a batch of 24 XM-18 Spantos and the things are gone in less than an hour. What has changed? Influx of new collectors? Is Hinderer production down? I'd be interested in what the community thinks.

I think people buy things when they get bored or dissatisfied, and these past few years have been very dissatisfying. I see it in GEC, and I can only guess working from home and not spending money on vacations has given folks more disposable income.

I suspect it's a combination of supply chain issues and more people staying home with discretionary funds that might once have been earmarked for other stuff -- basically the same factors that apply to all knife companies, IMO.

It's even worse with hardware. No inside knowledge here, but I assume the Ranch is making less of it because they're focused on getting out batches of knives. Finding anything other than full kits is practically impossible, and even those are tough to come by.

I think they work a lot to fulfill government orders, leaving less capacity for the public.

Knives for various special units mostly.
Are you saying Hinderer knives is under contract to supply knives to US soldiers? How do you know that? I can’t find the information anywhere.

I learned it from a video, iirc from the man himself. Can' remember if he specified US soldiers, or just military/armed units in general (law enforcement, firefighters, mercenaries, whatever).
