What's up with that steel?

Hello, I own the NICA tanto sebenza, and the steel, while well polished, doesn't have that mirror look of most other steels, it looks grey and almost fibrous, and different for other sebenzas. Most unusual indeed.
What's up with that?

Just a guess, but it sounds stonewashed to me.

I also own a tanto, and the finish is in fact the CRK stonewash finish. I believe this is the same finish used on the plain Sebenzas. The decorated Sebenzas come with the blade polished below the grind line. I was actually thinking of sending mine back for a polish job & double thumb stud.
