What's Up With That?

I'm new to the Busse thing, having had my SH-E for just about two weeks now.

I assume there has typically been a kind of war of words b/w Busse fans and Strider fans as to what is the baddest blade. Is this true?

I see there are a couple threads right now in the Strider forum, and amongst those threads a few posts that take a shot at Busse knives.

Here is an example:

""Will you lose any sleep knowing you have to rely on a Busse instead of a Strider?......... I would.""

I would really like to know how many Strider "hard core" knife owners are active military. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Busse owners are predominantly military people, but at least the civilian can use these knives. At least you can take a Busse out in the woods and chop with it, and hack down vegetation. You can use it as a general heavy duty cutting tool.

What does a civilian use a Strider for? Stabbing through phone books?

Long live INFI.

Threads similar to this come up every so often on other Forums. Here on the Busse forum we choose not to take shots at other makers or manufacturers and let the knives and the testing speak for itself.

Active discussion of the merits of a particular knife are fair to ask and hopefully we can answer them.

Generally speaking if it is Manufacturer A vs. Manufacturer B it is best asked in a forum with a more diverse background such as the General Forum or Knife Review and Testing.

One thing that we will not tolerate on this forum are personal attacks.

I hope this answers your questions.

I think both Busse and Strider are pretty awesome knives and companies. Different attitudes for sure but both make the toughest knives out there with great lifetime warranties. They both IMHO are totally trying to build knives that no matter what you do to them, you'll never need that warranty, but for the few that do, they don't run off and hide behind legal mumbo-jumbo and Clintonesque word tricks.

I have big hands and the E- series knives fit my hand better then anything I've found. The Strider fixed Blades just don't fit my hand as well and neither do the Busse SH models like the KB and the SJ. I also think INFI is the BOMB(NUCLEAR of course) and for big, thick use'em and abuse'em fixed blades it is the answer. But the Strider folder is THE MAN in the folding world of knives. I've got a GB with the original hollow grind and LOVE IT! It doesn't go click when it locks open, it goes KLUNK. I love the the lower point in the Tanto shape for all sorts of utility cutting, you dont have to get your elbow up by your ear to use the point, and for a lot of utility cutting a point is better for detailed cutting. So until Jerry makes my BA-E fold, Strider is my much beloved folder. And finally, Strider and Busse are the only companies I know of that INVITE you to use'em and abuse'em. I like that a lot. Having said all of that right now I am carrying my BA-e more than anything else, still sort of in a fixed blade phase.(man, I hope I don't grow out of it! I like this "phase")

one has is a personal choise.
I have had a few Strider to check them out, they were fine knifes with some nice lines, but I just wanted some thing more.
A "Complete Package" my personal preferance is Busse.
I have a Randall or two, a Brend, and maybe an old Cold Steel Tipan in the safe. (now the Tipan was a mean Telephone book knife, scary sharp, just to much edge for me)
But I tend to favor a Busse.
Three points I like about the Busse's are the Steel, the Macarta handles, and the man behind the company.
When I have a question there is some one there (or here)to give me an anwser.
I like that.

As far as "War of words" not here, we all enjoy knifes and each others input we don't feel the need to wage a war to trout up Busse's.
Their proformance speaks for it's self.
take yours out beat it, chop with it, clean it and sharpen it.
When you see how well it does you'll understand why every one wants to pull Busse's Down.
If they feel better about their knifes doing that, big deal let them.
Time will tell.
Now go out and use that SH, show it you Care;)

utmts4me, both Busse and Strider are excellent knives and you can never go wrong with either maker. I've got both and really like them both and would not feel wimpy deploying with one from either maker.

Eric, I see you also do not like toung in cheek comments and/or satire in this forum either. My comment that was deleted was in no way a personal attack however, it was deleted anyway. If/when when I attack a persons character it will be in direct reply to what they have posted if/when they are trols or try to start trouble.

Oh well, must remember to play by the rules..........Now to learn the rules:rolleyes:

PS.....Don't know who deleted my post, but it would be nice to recieve a e-mail explaning why it was deleted instead of just opening the thread and it's missing. Not to mention that's my 1st ever deleted post on BF.

Shrike9,

I deleted your post. I will contact you off-line for an explanation.

Thanks,

Jerry

Komodor, Strider knives are available in a wide variety of blade styles and shapes. Only a few are anywhere near what one would call really pointy. The blade profiles are in general good for all around use. You can use them for anything you would use any knife of similar blade length for. They are also quite good at prying. The main line Busse Blades however all very heavy duty and thick with the idea of chopping and prying clearly designed in. They also tend to be a bit heavier than other knives in the class due to this. The post you referred to was not taking a shot at Busse as much as at a troll playing games over there. You have to follow the action on a continuous basis to see what is really going on beyond the obvious.:p
