Why is it that as time passes by and I get a little older, my taste in knives changes? First it was production folders. Then it was small handmade fixed blades. The it was upscale tactical folders. Then it was Japanese tacticals. Then it was back to tactical folders. Then it was large bowies and camp knives. And now.............Ive seen the works of Richard Rogers and Eugene Shadely....traditional pattern handmade multiblades. Their workmanship is AWESOME. anyways, what's up with that!

DrRMJ, I think the more we learn about knives the more different (There is no way that can be correct granner) we look at them. I am a maker and I bounce from one style to another and not even think about it. I just get an ideal and go. I still have my standards, but I find myself wandering all over the place. Keeps you sharp

I have a lot of customers going through the same thing, that is why I opened a consignment page on my site http:www.exquisiteknives.com
in the next couple of weeks look for it, a few Shadleys and a Chamblin are going on it and they are nice. Look at Roy Humenicks work, I just got a Pearl Coke Bottle Pattern and in a word it is wonderful!(Not for sale)

For me its a familiarity thing,we've all had a boyscout knife,a case pattern or a swiss-army knife.as you get older and you discover customs a beautful world opens up.Ive purchased some tacticals and I have a stilletto coming from Darrel!but when I hit my first custom show and met Gene Shadley I came full circle. His work and that of his contemporaries(Bose,Davis,Rogers,Chamblin..)
Brings me back to a more innocent time but also serves as a testament to what can be achieved through passion, hard work and dedication.I thank all knife makers for that
