What's up with the extra pivot ring on this Woodie?

Oops. Ignore thread.
After taking a really good look I noticed that it's just the reflect of the wood in an even circle on the screw.
Take a look at the top screw for reference, and I mean Really cool, it's impossible to tell that it isn't relly there without looking really carefully.
Cool effect though.
