on a site i go to a lot
i seen a 25 th ansverary buck knife for hardly davidson
that was 25 year etch on a 1992 blade?!?!
what ?
did buck go and 'back etch' 4 years on a knife for HD?
inquireming minds kinda sorta want to know...
things that make you go hummmm.

Well Dave, I saw that and have asked the seller to describe if those are 2 dashes on the 110...or 4 dots. I happen to have a 112 proto-type, with that etching, on a 4 dot blade. I've sold 110s with that particular etch on the blade, made in years other than the tang stamped 1987 I've kept in my collection. One was tang stamped 1991 with that I sold on the bay.

oh was it for sale some place?
i have asked the owner to email me some picts
IMHO it is two dashes for 92...
not 4 dots
i would not have posted on 4 dots as i know that to bea proto
untell some highter athorurty (and you konow who they are)
comes along i consiter it a reissue etch at the insastance of haardley david's
bike company...
why would i celbreat the 16 ansversury of my 39th birthday with me in my speedos picture on a knife... unless i was trying out for the chipendalles...that is....
i jest dont understand late reissues of a "dated" etch ...
see if no year marks then it would be worth a LOT in trade value
i dont like year marks ... jest dont ...
if i consinged to buy 100 knives from buck i would have NO year marks on them at all!!!! 100 or 1000 or 10,000.... for a year or ten years
and if i had it in my power i would convence wally to not have them either!!!
hay ! maby that could be done?!?!?? heee heee will ues google to find the order man for wally! hee hee hee :D

I bet most people don't even notice, and they still sell knives. Harley owners probably just like the Harley etch on the knife. Most of them probably dont even notice the date stamp, well, all but Goose ;)

:D I like them ;)
I have some without date stamps and it makes it harder to find info on them...
I also have some that Joe says were not made during the year that is stamped on the knife, and to me that makes it more valuable.
To each his own I guess.

yea i have some of them also!!! and they are normally sales man samples or Pre- ordered by a company for in the future.. so yes i can understand the date stamp on the blade is OLDER then the year issued or sold
this hd is a 88 date etch on a 92 blade?!?! they did not have 92 blades in stock then in 88 did they?
this one is like a back date... why order an etch on a knife 4 years after the date shown IN the etch?

yea i kinda likes some date marks like the dots ... and inverted and usa ect...
but not the ones sence 86 :thumbdn: :barf: ..
i jest wish they were some thing other then the ones they will use... :thumbdn: :barf:
but NOT on customs or limited editions!!!!
some thing classy like roman numbers..
AND put them on the back no mater what they are!!!

...Well my "jar exacerbated" buddy:eek:...That's one of the reasons I never liked "etchin's " on the blades of my knifiepoos..."Etchin's " and "cirrations" have never been sumthin' I've looked for in a knife...Looks like the "etchin's " could be a bit of a problem beyond taking away from the intrinsic...... beauty of the steel...:D:cool:

Its a good thing we all dont like the same girl ;)
Thats what makes it interesting. We all like different options and models!
It keeps us collectin' ;)
If Buck only made one model lets say a 110, and it only came in its standard version, without any date stamps that would get to be a pretty boring display ;)
