$140.00+ for a 1988 120 on the bay:confused::eek::confused:.

I know that a link is not good for an active auction but I can post the # if that is acceptable.

Seventeen bids, what the heck is going on here...SHILLS??? What am I missing??? Preston

Good question. There is another 120 now at $31. and a Vietnam USMC 120 (reserve not met). Some stag ones, too for $170.

Better options are on the board IMO.

You missed the fact that he "found" it in his "lower sweater drawer."

Clearly this makes it one of the rare lower sweater drawer Buck 120s that are so sought after (and rarely seen) by collectors.

Other than that.......damifino.

:)

Oh. Thanks for pointing that out. Now it makes sense! It's good to have experts who can set things like this straight. :D

well...... he is calling it a Frontiersmen..
this is, possability, some one useing the name of a more expensive knife
to get better bids by confuseing buyers to th9ink it is the more expensive one..
and if you check selling prices the 124 does sell for more then a 140
i think some folks are confusing the knife and thinking it is the 124 value...

A clear case of stupid buyers believing a statement because it is made by an authority.

When will they ever learn?

:D

Actually, I don't think it's that, Dave. If they are smart enough to know what a Frontiersman is......they are probably smart enough to recognize that the shape is all wrong for a Frontiersman.

But.....you never know.

(Shrug)

Dave is quite correct, though.....that the use of "Frontiersman" is wrong and an actual violation of the rules. It might be a way out, since shill bidding is almost impossible to prove.

I hope the poor guy that is now stuck with it at $142 has the sense to retract his bid on the basis that the auction title misrepresents the knife.

You gotta wonder if there was shill bidding involved in some of these crazy auctions.

I think it is ok to post an active auction if it is for genuine discussion rather than recommending sale/buy. I'd certainly preface the posting with that kind of statement. If a mod disagreed, I would expect a removal without penalty at worst.
