Just a few lines to inform y'all...

Up for a promotion to team leader at work. 3 hour test, 1 hour interview, my co-workers and supervisors have to do evals on me. Heard through the grapevine I have it but they can't tell me, been a long 3 weeks of wondering. If I get it I'm off to the paint shop though, no more test track :(

Waiting for my golf check, I recently wrote a process change to our dynamic inspection process that will save our company over $300,000 a year in labor because of increased capacity. They've mentioned a monetary reward, I told them I want a big golf check like Happy Gilmore. I'm not going to hold my breath but it's nice spending it in my mind. My truck needs new tires :p

These 2 things have brought me to positive attention of my managers, we recently had a department cook out and the Director of Quality called me over to shake my hand and compliment me on the process change brief (6 pages) asked about my background and stuff. Can't be a bad thing and lunch was free. They usually do a department cook out every 6 months for every department. Gives a chance for all the senior management to come out and say hi to people that would normally not see them. Hyunda does a lot of things right in my opinion.

You know I have been pretty worried about you ever since you went to the Doctor and found out you're medically retarded, but this is a step in the right direction. :p

Where's that hiding behind the couch smiley??? ;) :D

Seriously, this is WAAAAAY COOL Will!!! I'm glad to hear the good news. Proof that good things happen to good people that work hard. Good on 'ya Will!  :)

Congratulations, Will! That's some good things going on for you. Just remember one of my favorite sayings no matter what you're doing:

"If you can't have fun at work, then what fun is work?"

And another favorite:

"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

Congrats and bets of luck to you in your promotions process and your continued success!

Good Deal Will!! Hey If you get a big happy Gilmore check a power hammer would be nice,LOL Take care gimme a holler,Charlie

I've been training new people from the Kia Georgia plant all week, the running joke is that they're obviously being punished for something. Been fun to torture new people and to make one guy throw up on the test track.

I gripe a lot about Hyundai but they really do a lot of things right. Some examples:

Teamwear, everyone that works for Hyundai or Kia has a uniform, doesn't matter if you install windshield wipers or you're the President, you will wear the same uniform and there's not one lick of difference between the shirt you wear and his cept the color and style choices either of you made.

Parking, very democratic and usually the more senior you are the farther you have to walk because you get there after the plant workers. Only 3 people are allowed to park inside the fence and only the President takes that opportunity, the other 2 directors walk through the parking lot like everyone else.

Open door policy, it doesn't matter who you are or who the management person is, you have the right and they have the obligation (within reason) to ask and answer questions unless circumstances hinder them from stopping to talk to you.

The family appreciation day festivities. Normally a monstrous circus affair, last year 11000 people attended, with free food, games (lots of awesome games) rides and arguably the best fireworks show in this part of Alabama. Due to the financial situation they couldn't host it this year but they're giving everyone free all day wristbands, parking vouchers and $10 food/drink tickets to the State Fair in October.

The senior managers, especially the Koreans, really pitch in. It's not uncommon to see the Korean vice president moving or washing cars to free up labor to do other things. C.G. will often yell, "I move car, you work" and if he gets backed up, he'll start screaming in Korean into his cell phone and a little army of his minions start pitching in.

If y'all get a chance, buy a Sonata or Santa Fe (although the new car for '11 won't be called a Sonota.)

I am glad things are looking good for you Will, that is good news. Best of luck to you with the new job, hope it all works out for you.

Will, you're awesome:thumbup:
