Just curious what's going on with the Swamp and the Yard. There's no communication on the Scrapyard forum and the knives have all been sold out for a while. Now it looks as if the knives on the Swamp Rat website are going to be all sold out too. Are the two branches being phased out?
 
That's the question on everyone's mind. Especially since Busse announced they're going to start using SR-101 in their "Battle Grade" models. One has to wonder if the MountainMandu is the last unofficial "official" Swamp Rat model.

Some communication from the Busse folks would be nice...

Apparently Dan has a large military order that Yard is working through ATM. After that is done the return of the old model - limited time sales offering, taking orders, knife('ves) is taken down from the site, orders are made and sent out and then another knife will be offered.

With the recent posts by Jerry (ASH-1 BG, ASH-2) it looks like Busse might be doing similar thing, so Swamp being the redheaded stepchild will most likely go that route too.
 
It's the lack of communication that's doing everyone's head in. Dan posted on 18 March that an announcement about the next Yard knife was "two weeks" away. Since then, total silence. Zip. Nada. Nothing.

I have this terrible itch to order another Ratmandu (already have two) or a Rodent 6 in case they go the same way as all the other Swamp and Yard knives and disappear into the abyss.

...... they still intend to make and sell knives just not have a "store" model that only came about @2012 or so. They will offer a model for order over a "two week" period then produce and ship it. So as it stands, there will still be SYKCO blades.. :)

I'd expect that this sort of news would mean an email from Pokey with info.

Only the secret, forum members only, knives are kept to Yard forum, everything else will prompt new threads on BF.
 
How about a Rat only knife?!?!?!?!?

I still wont be surprised if the Swamp is just absorbed into Busse proper.
 
Does anyone know if orders are still being filled? I have an order waiting since April and haven't heard a peep.

.... if you have placed and they have accepted the order I have little doubt it will be filled, you could try emailing Renee at Scrap yard and she could no doubt look into it for you.

For future readers of this thread, I emailed Swamp Rat and got a prompt, cheerful reply. My knife shipped shortly afterwards!
 
Someone say that it sounds like near future Combat Grade Busse knives will be SR101? Not super excited about that...but it would be OK if they made up for it by making a Busse folder :-)
 
Not Combat Grade. The new line is called Battle Grade and is SR101. The thread about it is on Page 2 of the Busse forum.
