ok ... i have heard of old bucks with jest a single dot ...
but on the new bucks what would a single dot on a
527 mean?
also did any one ever figure out the dot in the
inside of the V's and other year marks?

Around that time Buck was experimenting with Sandvik Coromant steel from Sweden. It could mean another engineering change but in all likelyhood it relates to the experiment with the 425M Sandvik steel. If I remember correctly the standard steel was Republic. They needed to differentiate the two for heat treating and performance measurement purposes. FYI.

PS: dots in unusual locations can often be from random Rockwell C hardness tests also.
