The title says it all. I just got one and the blade has these reliefs on the top. What is the intended purpose? BTW they really fit the hand well when gripping the knife when closed -- almost like a finger grooves.

Thanks,
Jim

If I ever had to break glass I would use my elbow and injure it before using a $400 knife.

Just out of curiosity, why would you risk a trip to the ER, as an alternative to using a tool for which it was designed?

Some folks think because a knife costs 400 bucks that it's some kind of treasure that can't be used.....i certainly remember the days when i could not afford anything but a 25 dollar Buck...nothing wrong with that. :)

I have also put my fist thru a few windows....no need for a doctor though.

The first relief can be used as a thumb rest when doing more intricate work such as whittling, fuzz stick making, etc.

The second relief works well as an index finger rest for chores such as skinning.

The semi-sharpened swedge is good for sparking firesticks, as well as scraping things. You don't dull your blade that way.

I really like this blade design for outdoor work. It is very well thought out.
It adds usefull features that the Seb is missing.

I hope this answered your question.
