What's worn on Case's Pocket Worn series?

Is 'pocket worn' just a marketing term for better finishing?

My first bone-cover Case has a proud XX logo that cuts about as well as the factory edge. I can't see any noticeable difference on pictures between standard models an pocket worn, so I'm beginning to think it's just their name for the level of finish we expect on, say, a GEC.

Am I right or is it some additional 'dehorning' as they call it when applied to firearms?

Side by side pictures would help.

Just smoothed out bone and a little dehorning i think. Should be cheaper than a gec.

The pocket worn series gets an additional round of hand finishing that gives it the " look and feel as if it were carried for years". They are noticeably a bit more smooth and polished IMHO. I've had a few that I really liked and they truly looked like they'd spent a long time in a pair of jeans. I think the few extra $ is worth it in a color/pattern you like.

I have a few, as well as non-pocket worn, and I can't tell the difference, being different materials treatments and colors. I need to see the same pattern with the same bone finish in both PW and nonPW to find perhaps any difference.
Here two teardrops, impossible to blind fold which is PW (except for the n° of blades). Feeling in hand and quality are exactly the same. A commercial gimmick?

Just the appearance and feel of the bone. From my experience the knives are no different than the non-pocket-worn varieties. I am pretty sure that the slabs of bone are pre-buffed to get that texture and only normal fitting and buffing occurs when they are hafted.

Just consider the pocket worn knives as yet another bone jigging variation. Now you can definitely tell the difference in hand between a peachseed jigged bone (like the Amber bone) and a pocket worn peachseed jigged (like the Pocket Worn Bermuda Green) but other than the feel and looks of the bone, the knives are identical and will have fit and finish within the normal Case variation for each model.

I do think the dyes are a little deeper into the bone to support the additional buffing, because I notice that my Pocket Worn Old Red kinves have better and darker dye penetration than my Dark Red CV family.

It is a very pleasant scale finishing, between smooth bone and jigged bone. I think that the name they came up with for it suits it well and conveys the essence of the texture, though it does upset some 130 year olds whose pocket worn handle scales are "real".
Of course, as smooth bone is real and jigged bone is real, this finish between the two is real as well. ;)

The term "worn" in pocket worn is a term Case uses to describe what happens to Case collectors when they keep reaching into their pockets to enhance their collections. Both their wallet and edge of their pocket gets worn from constantly needing their credit card for purchases. :D :D:D:D:D

That's not "worn", that's "ragged".

In my opinion the pocket worn knives aren't as good for everyday use as a regular bone handle.they are much smoother which makes them more slippery. I do think the extra polishing does make them very attractive. I carried one for a pretty good while and that is the only difference I eever noticed
