What's wrong with kids these days? Uniten Hibben gripe.

I don't really know anything about Hibben blades other than the UC association, but that thing kind of resembles a CQC-8 blade....

OT, but why why why do people make type their auction descriptions in ALL CAPS? When I see that, I usually don't even take the time to read it. :barf:

ALL CAPS SUCK SO DOES LACK OF PUNCTUATION

Well, that's more than I would pay for it, but I wouldn't mind owning a signed Gil Hibben prototype. Regardless what I think about the butt-ugly United fantasy knives, he's very well-known in the knife world and the item, if real, would be quite collectible.

Best Wishes,
Bob

People will spend so much money for popular crap than knives that have decent steel and aren't decorative.

Well duh. How do you think Bud K and the like stay in business?

As far as the auction goes, you'd be pretty hard pressed to get me to pay that kind of money for a POS United Cutlery knife. However, if the description is to be believed, then the knife is a one of a kind that was actually worked on by Gil Hibbon himself. Like him or not, a lot of people like his stuff, and this type of thing probably has collector value to those people.

If this knife is done by Hibben himself it will be worth a ton of dough. He is a stellar maker. Now on the other hand if it is a UC piece then probably not worth a ton of dough. keepem sharp

I have found through experience that people will buy anything off of ebay. They think that because it's on ebay that it must be the cheapest price.

People are idiots.

I am watching for a few knives on e-bay and I saw several times that knives were sold for more money than price of some of on-line dealers.
People just do not spend time to search.

I only look on e-bay for one of a kind antique knives, home made ect.
Walking Man- What does this have to do with kids- most younger knifers I know go for quality in their pocket but I may have biased aquaintances

The attraction here seems to be that Gil owned and modified it, even though it was a UC knife. I thank the lord that Gil never sold the design for the knife I have from him. Only two in existance. I'd hate for people to see it and say, "hey! I saw that on Epray for $49.50"

ITS A SURE SIGN THAT SOMEONE NEVER PAYED ATTENTION IN ENGLISH CLASS AND SPENDS ALL THEIR TIME ON THE INTERNET IN CHAT ROOMS AND TEXTING AND OTHER TOTALLY COOL STUFF AND YOU DONT NEED TO WRITE PROPERLY BECAUSE YOUR FRIENDS ARE COOL WITH IT GOD GORBID YOU TRY TO GET A JOB SOMEDAY OMG LOL!!!

This has been a public service announcement. All errors are intentional, I think.

It seems to be a United Knife that Hibben personally modified as a prototype. There's a letter from Hibben saying exactly what he did to alter the knife. I'd say $50-$60 would be a reasonable price (I wouldn't give $1 for a normal-production U.C. knife).

What really bugs me about this is that I just saw an original custom negotiator, the REAL prototypes..... get a max. bid of 225 (it didn't meat the reserve).
Maybe they should have put protype in the heading.
Also, IMO what Gil did to that knife just made it uglier. He basically carved a guard into the handle and removed the fins. Why the heck do you need a guard for a knife that's never EVER EVER going to be used as a fighter anyway?

MAN HAVEN'T YOU HEARD CAPS LOCK IS LIKE CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!11111elevenoneoneone

but jokes aside, I can't stand it either. Poor grammar or homynym errors drive me nuts. (Haha you're cloths look to tight) Spelling bothers me, but not quite as much -- I've come to accept the fact that many people will never learn to communicate in their own language thanks to the horror we know as spellchecker.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that modifying a factory knife is kinda stretching the definition of the word "prototype" a bit.

Did anyone else check the winners feedback? I took a quick look at the last 13 things he bought. He has spent well over a thousand dollars in the last month on other Hibbon "prototypes". Oh, and a couple of Disney Cinderella books. :p

Yikes...
