I have three Mnandis and have seen four or five others. All of these have been up to the usual quality of CRK and I did not see the gross problems that have been identified here recently. While it is unfortunate that some of these problem knives have slipped out the door, I can say that without a doubt CRK will correct them to your satisfaction.
One of the things about the design of the Mnandi is that the elongated "nail nick" milled into both sides of the blade offers a ruler-straight "line of reference" along its length. When the blade is hand profiled on the grinding wheel to make the hollow grind, it must be enormously difficult to get the hand ground line to match up perfectly parallel with the milled straight edge of the nail nick recess. And then this must be repeated on the other side! Some Mnandis I have seen are parallel with a small space between the hand ground line and the recess. On some the hand grind runs right up to the edge of the recess. And on some the grind line is not parallel but rather is angled slightly upward toward the blade tip. I accept these small variations as evidence that the grinder is a human and not a CNC machine, and part of what we are paying for in a Reeve knife is this fact. Blade grinding is an art. I know, because I have tried it. Turned a knife blank into a screwdriver!
I would have no reservations about purchasing a CRK product from any source because I know that 1) problems are extremely rare, and 2) they will be expeditiously corrected if found.
