Sharp. Toothy. Fine diamonds or ceramic...unless a strop does the trick. 30(slicing)-50(chopping) depending on the intended use. If it's Benchmade 3V, you can usually just strop it on a cold stick of butter
I usually sharpen my cold steel master hunter 3v on a norton coarse/fine India stone, then strop on a strip of unloaded leather. If I ever deform the edge then I’d use dmt diamond plates, but that hasn’t happened yet. Somewhere between what I call “fine” and “toothy” is where I end up.
