RobertHankins post ("Bowie or fighter") made me curious . . . What is your favorite style of bowie?

Long clip, short clip, shallow clip, deep clip, no clip or spear point?

Coffin handled, stag handled, or other?

Oval guard, S-guard, D-guard, or other?

How wide should the blade be in proportion to the handle, and should the spine of the blade be in line with the top of the handle?

Let the fun begin . . . we can take Danbo's pic of the Kevin Cashen bowie as his vote ;)

From the time I was a child if you said the word "Knife" the mental picture I would get would be a clip point double guard Bowie like in the movies "Iron Mistress" and Walt Disney's "Davy Crockett". Although a John Nelson Cooper Bowie would be a dream to own I figured a Randall #12 Smithsonian Bowie would fill the void very nicely.

Over the last couple of years a Searles Bowie has moved way up on my "Wish List". I don't own one yet, but I did put together this composite of pics.

For a fairly pure "Bowie" style, and for the way this swedge and clip are ground, probably this one from Jerry Fisk:

(if someone would be so kind as to teach me how to make this photo fit the page, I'd be glad to edit...thanks.)

And for a usin', "Camp Knife" styled Bowie, something like this Fisk Arkansas Camp Bowie with lots of simple curved blade for either chopping wood or veggies, and with bottom of the guard about even with bottom of the blade so it stays out of the way when preparing food, and for the very useable, heavy-use suitable handle shape:

For usin', I like the Searles style for same reasons.

This Harvey Dean piece has always blown me away for ivory, design, D-guard, and amazing engraving...quite a package:

This is a neat and fairly unique blade grind (Dean again), and the damascus is great too:

They're working for him. :)

Rdangerer, you're going to have to upload them to some web space for everyone to see them.
