What type of edge do you like best?

Plain
Serrated
Combination

I liked plain edges because I can sharpen them preaty good.
I alway's like the way serrated blades cut but could not sharpen them very good.
After seeing the sharpmaker video I'm starting to think I may go to a serrated blade for a EDC knive and see just how well the sharpmaker works on serrated blades.

Anyway what type of blade do you like best?

I like serrated knives, because even if it can't cut at least it can still rip.

I prefer the plain edge, mainly because it's the most versatile for EDC. However, along with my plain edge primary blade, I also carry a fully serrated blade to accomodate those tougher cutting chores.

I always thought serrated looked cool when I was younger, but now that I know how to sharpen a knife I have to have plain edge.

Plain edge...It's alot more versatile than serrated, and easier/quicker to re-sharpen. A plain edge slices, where a serrated edge rips.

plain edge, though I also carry a fully serrated knife with me for those times that it is needed.

I'd take a plain edge too, given the choice of one over the other. Often times though, I will carry a combo edge.

A good chunk of my collection are 50/50's or 60/40's...some from when I first started out with knives and some that were trades that I had no choice in...but if I can help it at all I'll go for a plainedge. Looks better to me and easier to sharpen.

Thats my preference although I have to say there is nothing wrong with a comboedge though some people seem to hate them.

I think the only thing I hate more than a serrated edge is a chisel grind. I have been thinking about getting a Puma Scout though and it's got both of these features!

I can't stand kydex or cordura sheaths either, but at least you can throw them away and get one made up in leather.

All my knives are user blades, and aside from regular chores I expect each to do a passable job of whittling. Serrations just don't make it in the whittling department for me. Even the combo edges aren't a solution because I like to choke up on the blade for detailed/controlled whittling, right where the serrations are. The only chores I have found serrated blades to excell at are Bread Slicing and cutting slack rope.

I voted combo-edge because it gives you the best of both worlds, but on one condition: on a large blade only (like my Endura).
If you have a small blade (less than 3") then I would go for a plain-edge.

Good luck,
Allen.

My sentiments exactly.

Not counting on any chisel edges eh? ;)

I've never liked serrated edges esthetically.., although I admit they can be a great asset for specialty uses....

Voted for plain edge, but I always try to carry one of each. There are some things that I can't do easily with a plain edge that are a breeze to do with serrations, especially with SpyderEdge.
