What's your favorite 5.5" - 7.5" one piece?

I don't yet own a CRK one-piece and am considering the Shadow IV, Mountaineer II, Mk VI, and Project I or II for general camp use.

Any favorites among these these? I'm leaning toward a 5.5" knife but the Projects are tempting too.

Thanks.

The Projects are big...unless you plan to do some chopping the 5.5 should be just fine - the three you mention are all good. I suggest you decide on the point first - clip or spear. That will get you down to one or two - if you choose clip - then decide whether you want single or double cross guard...
I personally think the clips look better than the spears - I like my MkVI.

I Love the Shadow IV. I have many one-piece knives and find the spear point to be the toughest and best all around user. I really do not care for the single guard mountaineer II. If you want a clip point, definately go with the MKVI. I like the double guard for safety and I like their sheaths better as well. I like a snap closure rather than just the knife going deep into the sheath like the mountaineer II. I also really dont care for the projects. I have a project II and have never used it. I dont like serrations on knives, and thats probably the reason I dont like them. I know they make plain versions, but dont have any of them. I just am not a fan of the clip points. The jereboam II has a massive bowie clip point and out of all my 9" one piece, I dislike that one the most.

If you want one for general camp use, for my money, go with the spear point shadow IV. If you prefer to have a clip point, go with the MKVI. You really cant go wrong with any of them, my reason for liking the MKVI over the Mountaineer II is mainly the different sheath. I find the Shadow IV has a tougher point. It just all comes down to individual preference. I took a pic of the Mountaineer II; MKVI; Shadow IV so you can see a side by side comparrison. Enjoy !!

Sable. Great blade shape for all survival purposes. Most underrated of all the one-piece line (IMO).

Here is a comparrison of the 7.5" next to the 5.5" for you to compare.
Project II; Spearpoint Knonka; Pachmayr; Mountaineer II; Shable IV; MKVI; Shadow IV
If you want a 7.5", the Knonka is cool as you get a screwdriver set in the handle, thats if you did not plan on putting stuff in the handle. They are the same price as the Project II, so you get more for your money. But I still think a 5.5" would be a better all around camp knife in any configuration, with in my opinion the shadow IV being the most durable. I used the Sable IV during hunting season and it worked great. A Very Nice Knife. Enjoy !
