What's your favorite blade style for folders?

a clip point followed by a sheepsfoot. I'd like to get a wharncliffe, it looks like a good compromise between the two.

Since the Spyderco Police model is my favorite folder, I'd have to say that I like the pointy blades the best.:).
 
I've always been a big fan of the clippoints and droppoints, but lately, I've been going more for sheepfoot blades.

You know this is a good question and sounds like a easy one but I like different profiles from different manufacturers, I like Benchmades and Al Mar's Wehawk style blades, I like the Spear points on W&H's, Cammilus makes a great looking modified bowie, Spyderco's "pointy" profile is great. So just depends on the knife I guess for me no real preference.
 
For general utility.- the sheepfoot on my stockman, for long slices or when I need a pointy blade.- the clip on my stockman, for detail work or slicing along the belly.- the spey on my stockman.

Why limit yourself to one blade, when you can have one knife with three diferent blade styles that compliment each other ?
 
I too love my stockman. I haven't sharpened the spey tet, but my clip point has a toothy edge and a fine point for delicate work, while the sheepsfoot blade has a polished edge for whittling- super handy!
Overall though, gimme a spear point or a clip point. Folders are fore delicate work for the most part, and that includes needing a point to do delicate chores.

Again though, this is 'for the most part'. Usually I am carrying my Buck/Strider tanto, and my stockman. Got all things covered! I just need a tomahawk now... :)
 
I like a drop point or modified wharncliff. The modified wharncliffs I've seen are like spearpoints! I still can't figure out why they call my leek a wharncliff (modified), maybe modifed wharncliff should just be given a different name. Love that sharp point! :D
 
I really like the blade profile of my 705 and small classic Sebenza. They are both real close to the same, they both have good pointy tips for the fine work but still enough belly for the heavier cutting.
 
I've recently been taken by a facination with Wharncliff blades, but normally clip or spear.
 
My favorites on folders... (in order) Drop points followed by Clip points. On fixed blades there usually Bowie/Clip points. I've never been a fan of Tantos (on folders and fixed blades). But in reality for all around utility a drop point is the best, with proper skill it can achieve just about any cutting task.
 
A list like this is subject to change pretty much on a whim, but I think that in something close to preferential order, I like:
1) Drop point
2) Spear point
3) Clip point
4) Wharncliff

I'm not much of a fan of Bowie blades.

By the way, how do you pronounce that? Is it "BOH-ee" or "BOO-ee"? I've always preferred the former.
 
To me a clip point or Bowie style point offers the best combination of belly for slicing and point for fine detail work.

It's hard to beat a Stockman or Trapper for versatility.
