just thought id add a thread for your favorite double carry busse's :)

for a while there mine was the crinkle coat basic 3 and 5 (with my ghetto survivalist sheath (enough paracord for a turniqate  ))

but ive recently upgraded to a modified 1/4 police recuit with micarta scales (that i grooved), and a sharpened choil (probably a2), as well as a le 1/4 saber ground satin jack with sharpened choil. pr = general prybar/people knife, satin jack = slicer and chopper (stupid palm tree :grumpy: ))

so whats your favorite dual carry combo?

What in the world did you do to that poor Satin Jack!! Sharpened choil?

The only dual carry I have ever had Busse or otherwise was an Assault Shaker and Bad Apple. A very simply carry set, but was quite nice while I had them.

eh, the satin jack has the same sized blade as the basic 5, but with a bigger ricasso and an extended pommel. i figure, for the same blade size, the advantages between the satin jack and the basic 5 are reletively slight. mainly, you get the added benefits of infi, and a better prybar because of the extended handle. but, with the sharpened choil, i get a slightly longer blade then the basic 5, and the benefits of the longer handle.

i hate choils enough that im willing to alter some pretty rare blades in order to make them carriable for me. i simply cant have the liability of cord/rope/string/anything getting caught up in it when im cutting it, wich happens frequently.

i still want to try out a skeleton key :) seems like a great size and shape for a general cutter...

i had a sj le once but i sold it :( because it was too big for concealed edc. i assume you carry owb? i would get run out of town if i carried a knife on my belt like that

right now i have the le sj in the standard paracord snap cordura sheath, wich was actually taken from a 3/16" sj... for some reason they both fit about the same.
ive got it in my standard paracord wrap wich makes it so that the belt loop is folded completely back, and held down so the sj's first 1" of edge is whats at belt level.

problem is, this is the velcro style belt loop, so folding it back makes it it really thick (being 3 layers of cordura instead of 2, plus velcro thickness). it makes for interesting carry.... you can only see the tip of the sheath under my shirt, wich doesnt really look like anything since the leg tiedown flap is pulled back as well, so its just a black box. it does look kind of weird with the handle coming up about the middle of my ribs, since im somewhat of a thin guy....

i intend to eventaully make a kydex sheath for it that lets it ride a little lower, and on my right side instead of left (my pr sheath is right handed, and i cant stand carrying a canted knife backwards.... and the handle looks like a gun handle  )

it is a big knife, but then again i carry a basic 9 in my backpack at all times...

Usually this is my rotation:

PD or ZTSJ+SNG+Les Baer Concept X .45
or
MD Texas Terror+SNG+Les Baer

and if its really hot

MD Rat Thing or PD + SNG and Grock 30

I guess whats missing is a Busse Folder.... :grumpy:

Last time I went hiking I took my Mr. Mojo CG and a Little Hen Knives (Ron Leuschen) Cadet. and a Sebenza.

AS is EDC lashed to my fatbot as is my Basic3 Dwayns is making a dual holster sheath for my Basic 5 and 6P But it will also include my new badass sheath for the BA3:)
Also I thought the SJ had a 6" blade making it illeagal for me to carry can someone check and see if there is a SJ under 5.5
Thanks
and
Peace
Bob

the satin jack has a 5" cutting edge, but its 6" to the gaurd, and 6.5 to the handle material, so it depends on where the law says the blade length ends. from what i understand, the amount that you can stick into a person is said to the blade length, so the satin jack would be about 6"

Actually Texas uses a little less morbid way of determining blade length, but its none less disturbing. Its not defined in Texas law, it simply says blade length. My bro-in-law says its up to the cop to measure the way he see's fit. SOme measure the cutting edge only, others measure to the start of the handle. In short, with the satin jack you have a 50/50 chance of getting your knife confiscated. Mine stays home:grumpy:

btw Seth, that PR looks familiar....if its the one I had its INFI, the A2's had handle bolts. It sure is a fat stubby little bugger eh? ;)

So far all the combo's that I have made are my favorites:D Each new combo that a client thinks up becomes my new fave. :) the last one was a Howler/AS combo, that was the lightest, most handy combo that I've handled so far. The heaviest combo I have thought of is still in the plans.......A2 SHSH with A2 SHBA piggybacked...... my back hurts just thinking about it!!!

yep... thats gonna be pretty much standard practice from now on.... not on the larger blades like the basic 9, but definitely on anything im gonna be carrying on my belt for daily cutting....

That would be either Jungle Defender or Buffalo Soldier in my FatBoy and a choice of AS (in BAD ASS or Brix sheath), Ansø Nasty Necker or Small Sheepsfoot. That's actually (in various configurations) what I have with me every day at work! :)
