Whats your favorite Gun Mag??

American Handgunner first and Combat Handguns
a close second.

I can generally count on both to have a good
article or two covering custom 1911's.A.H.
has excellent color pics.

BTW I've seen your ads in American Handgunner.

Definitely American Handgunner, the pictures are great, the knife mags should have such high quality pics.

American Handgunner, good honest reviews (most of the time), great photos, cutting edge industry information, reliable content.

Shooting Times is a close second, primarily for Sherrif Jim Wilsons reviews and storys.

Combat Handguns is decent, but lacking in consistent substance.

Darrell,
American Handgunner, SHOOTING SPORTSMAN[fine shotguns], and THE CLAY PIGEON.

AH, and SHOOTING SPORTSMAN for the articles and GREAT pics of fine pistols and shotguns,..CLAY PIGEON for tournament info....

I am aware that advertising knives in pistol mags is going well for makers,..but don't overlook the guys with fine[$$$$$] shotguns.

American Handgunner! I used to do alot of competition shooting-IPSC and the World Shootoff. Great coverage and pix.

My favorite is Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement. This mag contains a variety of articles and reviews, even knife reviews.

Guns & Ammo; Brian Pearce is the best.

Great minds must think alike; American Handgunner for all of the above reasons. When Gun Games comes out again it will be on my list. After that, it is a toss up for who ever has a feature acticle i'm interested in.

I have to be the lone voice I don't like American Handgunner. Too glitzy and too much about the 1911 (which is a good gun after extensive modifications). Often the articles lack alot of substance and there tends to be some commercial bias in My opinion. I like Rifle magazine very unbiased and not affraid to buck the latest commercial fad even if they might not get full page ads because of it. If it's tactical you want then I like Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement cops can't worry about the glitz arguements they need what works and this mag tends to give that. I don't mean to offend those who disagree it is my opinion only.

I would have to say American Handgunner also, for the quality if nothing else. The photographer, Ichiro Nagata, is the best in the business. He's also an avid shooter and, by the looks of his pictures, a knife knut too! Massad Ayoob is also one of my favorite writers and I've been reading his stuff since the late 70's (geesh I'm old).

Combat Handguns is a close second because of the types of articles they publish. Their publisher is Harris Publications, that also produces Tactical Knives Magazine.

Petersen's Handguns is usually pretty good. Their long time editor, Jan Libourel, just went over to Gun World and that magazine is improving with each issue. Check it out!

The gun rags I liked the best were Pistolero and Gun Tests, (showing my age a little bit). They did some very irreverent reviews always with a good dose of humor.

Most gun rags are the same, and other than name changes, carry the same content.

About the only ones that I've saved over the years have been some issues of either the 'American Rifleman', the NRA publication, or 'Rifle', by Wolfe publishing company. Both for the variety of high quality articles, especially ones with a lot of technical content.
