was just looking at some karambits and was thinking about purchasing a fox karambit w/ aluminium handles, wanted to see 1. if you like these types of knives and if so which are your favorites

I've had an emerson and a spyderco, prefered the emerson combat karambit.

Spyderco is coming out with a new one soon that I've got my eyes on.

Fox makes fine karambits, I've never had one though. From what I've read, they aren't as good as emersons, but they aren't a slouch.

I would take a Busse war boar if I could find one. I currently have emerson combat karambit, Spyderco warren Thomas karambit, several 5.11's.

It can go either way it seems, I've read quite a few people who prefer the Fox ones to Emersons. I don't have either so I can't personally attest to which is better...I plan on getting a Fox though eventually.

Customized Emerson Combat Karambit...

I currently only own a Cold Steel Double Agent I. I like it. I like it a lot. Makes me want to buy the Steel Tiger.

The steel tiger is very nice! Came razor sharp with i believe a convex grind, and a needle like tip that would sink right into your finger or fore arm if your not too careful.... My only complaint is that its a tad to big (not by much) for my size s/m hands :[ other than that i love flipping this thing and opoening my mail haha.

I have a Steel Tiger and both the Double Agent 1 and 2. The Double Agent 1 is probably my favorite. The DA fits my hand a little better than the Steel Tiger.

511 wave modded.

I have a custom made 5160 5mm thick stock double edged kbit with bronce and stag handles 10cms blade.
That's my favourite.
Also have steel tiger, and chad los banos kbit by boker.
Finally, I have a custom kind of double agent II, a kbit with a bowie blade, also 10 cms blade, like 8mm thick a heavy monstruosity made of one piece of 1095, I use it to break cow, chiken and pig bones at the kitchen.

This is my only Karambit at the moment:

I don't see the advantage with a hawkbill, having such a weak tip. The belly on this knife is insane. Fox also makes a version with G10 scales and a tiger coated blade much like the ZT 0350s. I have this up for sale because it'd be very difficult to carry it in my area, but if I were in a more accepting community; I'd beat this thing to a pulp.

I find the 2 rings on the DA line kinda uncomfortable, personally. Definitely prefer the Tiger myself, but it's a pretty big blade.

I've only got one, so I can say that this is my favorite.

I did meet another knifenut that EDC'd the smaller Combat Karambit, and he made a good point as to why he chose it. He said he was about to move down south, and the blade length limit was 3" and the Combat K-bit's blade falls well below that I think, while offering a full-sized handle.

i truly was taken by the looks of UC's honshu

unfortunately, word about it's materials left a lot to be desired.
so i settled for a FGX karambit instead :-)

I like Emersons and Fox. I've been using an Emerson Combat Karambit and a Fox Kuku Hanuman (fixed) for years and I'm very happy with both of them.

I've been trying to get one of those from one of my usual, reputable sites for practice. I want to get better working with my Steel Tiger and it feels almost the same. Maybe a little lighter but I'd rather use a $15 polymer blade for popping balloons and slicing jugs than dull my Steel Tiger. Think of it as a stunt double.

I should add on the Honshu that I was interested for a while too but the shoulder harness it came with was what turned me off of it. Even if I could take UC seriously after some of the rubbish I had from them when I was younger and didn't know any better, crappy/impractical holsters save me a lot of money by discouraging purchases.
