Just trying to start a discussion here, I want to know what your favorite knife is, why it's our favorite, and the purpose it fulfills in your everyday life. I understand everyone is different, so there are no parameters, can be a $5 knife or a $500 dollar knife. Hoping to gain new perspectives!

I guess I'll start and say my favorite knife is my Spyderco Southard. The fit and finish is so smooth and I love the blade geometry. I've been buying mostly spydercos because I feel they offer best bang for your buck, I like the spydiehole, and I really like their compression socks and their heat treat on the s30v. I mostly use this knife at my landscaping job, constantly opening things, from burlap sacks, plastic bags, plastic straps and when I'm back in the shop, I maintain the machines and the use for a rag is constant, so I slice through towels and blankets and old clothes with ease. I open packages when I order new pets, and I've actually used it repeatedly to open backs or sand which I thought would destroy the edge due the abrasiveness of the sand, but I was surprised by the CTS 204P because it still slices through paper no problem, I only have to give it a quick strop and it's hair shaving sharp again.

What about you?

there's a million of these threads already, your just going to get a million different answers. not sure what the point is. especially since their are so many threads like this. /me being a hater

I don't have a favorite, I have several and like most if them.

Spyderco Delica or Endura. Do I need to explain why? I personally like them because theyre thin and light, they also perform 99% of any practical cutting tasks you need to do. They cut very good as well.

I EDC a few knives...but the one that I pick up the most is my Buck Vantage Pro. Perfect size and shape, quality steel, US made and a deep pocket clip.

As much as I love my Manix 2, it can be a bit much for my daily, 9-5, office EDC (great for weekends, yard work, garage, camping, etc).

My favorite right now is my Kershaw leek. Nice and slim in the pocket. Great blade profile (which I wasn't initially a fan of, strangely enough). Big enough blade to be useful, but small enough to be unobtrusive. Didn't look 'scary-tactical' if I pulled it out at the office or in public. I could even clip it to a pair of dress pants without it looking out of place. For my purposes, it was just a great all around EDC knife.... until my wife claimed it for all the exact same reasons! :p I really need to find a proper replacement for it.

I think a different perspective is to ask what is it about a particular knife that meets your EDC needs better than another? I think it also depends on the experience and skills of the users as well.

I think most of us rotate our EDC knives once and awhile, but my favorite right now is small 2+ inch fixed blade by JK knives. The handle is small but still comfortable and the small blade is handy and easily accessible.

Spyderco citadel. It has blade play and the lock stopped working so I removed it. A gentleman on the forum gave me a great deal on it and was truly a stand-up guy. Something about how I acquired it makes me love it more and it's the one and only knife I'll never sell.

My favorite knife is my Seamus Knives Irish Uber Crossover. Why? It is the perfect knife for me; it has 6k, which I love, is the perfect size for me, and has everything I want in a knife. AND, it was made for ME.

I have several knives in my carry rotation, but my two favorites are my Benchmade Grip 550HG G10 and my Kizer Sovereign. They are plenty big for the various uses I have for them, but they carry easily in my jeans pocket. They open and close easily with one hand. Fit and finish is excellent. Blade steel is good, but also easy to sharpen and maintain. I like the looks of both of them, too.

I have two favorites for EDC.

One is a US made Kershaw Zing. This knife has seen more pocket time the past few years than anything I own. It is a flipper but has the best thumb stud ever offered on a knife, IMHO. The Sandvik steel is easy to sharpen and gives you an unbelievable edge for a budget steel. Scallops machined into the blade are a nice touch and work well to keep things from sticking. Kinda like the dimples on some kitchen knives.

I like the Zing so much, I have one with orange scales that I plan to have buried with me. Who says you can't take it with you?

The second knife is Benchmade's 531. With a 3.25 inches blade, it is slightly larger that the Zing so it fills my hand a little better. It offers a better blade steel with 154cm or a REI exclusive with S30v. Weighing in at 2 oz., it is a decent gents knife if you are looking for something lighter in an Axis lock. Replace the split arrow clip with the optional deep carry clip from BM and you are set.

If I need something a little larger than the Zing or 531, I normally will grab a Griptilian that I won in a GAW here on BF.com. This place is the best!

I EDC a butter knife.. It cuts bread and spreads PB&J and Mayo on my sammiches..
Anything else is just pocket fluff..

But is your butter knife EDC a folder? I might have to make one, just because I got about 40 too many butter knives in the drawer ;)

At work, I EDC my Endura a lot, and a Sanrenmu 7071 tanto on days I will be messing with soldering electronic control board's. The SRM is a great scraper and pry-bar for removing large glued capacitors!

Once I go home I normally EDC a pair, either my Boker Urban Trapper or a SAK Tinker plus a heavy duty Kershaw Blur or Benchmade Volli. I like each in their own way. The Boker is also my dedicated hot pepper prepper ;) such a great slicers it is!

Wow. That escalated quickly. I was going to say at least this isn't another recommendation thread started by you :D

I don't have a favorite since there is no one knife that fulfills all the roles I expect. What I choose to carry will depend on what I am doing that day and what I think I might need a knife to do for me. For example, I love my TGLB. It is bad freaking ass! Did I carry it today? Nope. It doesn't work that well when I go to the Gym, work out, and knock out a swim. For those activities this is my favorite:

I carried a Pacific Salt SE for two years while maintaining a property in probate. Never had to touch up the SE....Rope, fertilizer bags, straps, boxes. H-1 really shows what a SE can do.

It has a lot of capabilities in a super light rust proof package. I carry it most days at some point for some reason. That is why a favorite EDC knife doesn't really work for me. I carry different stuff depending on what I am doing.

Not going in the lake with the Junglas:
